Atiku Deplores Mindless Violence

By Shehu Garba

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the suicidebomb attack on the UN office in Abuja, maintaining that mindless violence is counter-productive to peace and progress.

Reacting to the latest bomb incident in the nation’s Federal Capital in a press statement, the former Vice President noted that indiscriminate violence against the innocent could not solve any problem in any society. According to him, there is no alternative to dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts.

He explained that as an international institution committed to peace and the well-being of humanity, the United Nations Staff should be protected at all times rather than being put in harm’s way for whatever reason.

Atiku Abubakar argued that violence against the innocent desecrates the principle on the sanctity of life, which has been preached by all religions of the world. He warned that uncontrolled violence could paralyze society, thereby undermining the pursuit of happiness.

On the appalling new security challenges currently confronting Nigeria, the former Vice President has welcomed the involvement of international experts to unravel the extent, nature, dimension and global connection to these incidents of bomb attacks, which are relatively new in Nigeria.

He said the seeming paralysis in the   nation’s response to these challenges calls for global collaboration because Nigeria is dealing with a hitherto unknown crime of this destructive scale.

In his words, our security men are not magicians to overcome these challenges unaided and called for increased vigilance by Nigerian citizens in the face of this dangerously new phase of violence and security challenges.

The Turaki Adamawa also called on religious leaders, traditional rulers, community leaders, opinion leaders and other respected voices in society to enlighten their people on the imperative of peace, which is essential for the progress of any society.

In the same message, Atiku congratulated Muslims for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and prayed to Allah to accept their sacrifices.
He wished all Nigerians a very happy and peaceful Sallah celebrations.

Your hatred for Atiku or for

Your hatred for Atiku or for others you dont really know is precisely why this country is in the sorry state that it is...after all what child can hatred bear?

TURAKI

Atiku remains the most prepared and one of the best candidates for leadership in this country and it is so easy to see. If only we can set aside, share hatred and a refusal to analyse the trusth about what has happened in this country since 1984. But trust many of us we will abuse, curse, spit at and malign what we do not understand and people we dont even know...the wisdom of men they say is foolishness unto God

@Atiku!

Shut up!This is what u prayed for,so why are u condeming it?

Atiku useless idiot, all of

Atiku useless idiot, all of them are Bako haram sponsors, never ever trust northerners. All their plan now is to get the power back to the north. They still beleived that they are born to rule. Its better we seperate to have peace of mind. Atiku no way for you, if you think you can rule.

Atiku Is Not A Bad Guy.

Too many Nigerians are blindfolded with sentiments that they always miss the statesmanship message in most of Atiku’s advice, comments and deeds on our dear country. All his warnings about Nigeria’s economy have been corroborated by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and other world acclaimed economists. Some of them have even come to pass. We forget so soon all his contributions to our nascent democracy including saving us from despotic tendencies of OBJ, yet we are quick to wave him off at our slightest opportunity. Our sentimental rather than objective assessments of potential leaders have cost us more than we realize.

Atiku, you said you will make Nigeria ungovernable. Is the bombing not part of it? Can you come out to say it by yourself and not send your boys to release such statements? I will want Nigerians to hear from your mouth that you are not part of this!

You are a bitch

You are a bitch for calling Atiku part of Boko Haram. Did know him to be able to speculate that?

ARE WE SURE ATIKU IS NOT ONE

ARE WE SURE ATIKU IS NOT ONE OF THE BOMBERS?WELL THOSE WHO LOST ELECTION IN THE NORTH SAY THEY WILL MAKE NIGERIA UNGOVERNABLE THIS IS IT NOW THEY HAVE TURNED INTO "BASKET CASES" WICKED DEADLY MONSTERS WITH A NETWORK OF SPONSORED KILLERS WITH NIGERIAN STOLEN MONEY STORED IN UNDERGROUND BUNKERS IN THEIR HOMES THE SOLUTION IS A GOOD CONSTITUTION THAT NO RELIGION IS MENTIONED AND ROTATION CLEARLY SPELT OUT WE TIRED WITH NIGERIA. NIGERIA IS NOT ONLY FOR XTIANS AND MOSLEMS MY PEOPLE IN ISALE EKO LAGOS IMOLE SO PLEASE CUT OUT RELIGION IN THE NEXT CONSTTUTION

atiku???

Who are u patronising?

Atinuke, direct your talk to your fellow billionaire politicians

A nation whose leaders keep hiding the truth is doom. Unfortunately truth can not hide. Boko haram is the lion that has made carricature of our leadership incompetence and high level deceit. Boko haram can only be stopped when the leaders appreciate true committment.
Those that are expected to stop Boko haram cant send their chidren to school, cant buy kerosene, cant afford medicals, faced with floods, find it difficult to eat. However, those that are benefitting from the nations wealth like Atiku are not forthcoming with the same zeal with which they made their money. Unfortunately when the heat is unbearable they will catch the next available fight to a safe country.
By the grace of God, we will overcome.

OC, i agree with u, this is not the time to speak thro surrogate

I had expected all PDP strong men to come together to visibly help GEJ fight this battle but they are all in their shelves watching GEJ afar. Its obvious for selfish reason, they all played safe in massively supporting GEJ by all means to prevend Buhari. OBJ, Gana, Ekwemme and others came out strong during the election and went afar afterwords; PDP is in disarray pretending to be cohesive.
Atinuke came from ACN to tear PDP in revenge. Initiated today's crisis with the needed tension caused by zoning or no zoning. Psychologically the innocent northerners and south south populace had taken sides after PDP Presidential primaries. What aught to be PDP internal affairs was not well managed. If the PDP presidential primary was well managed, perhaps today's crisis might have been underplayed.
Those GEJ men that deceive Atiku to PDP bcos of the sure banker of loosing to GEJ in PDP rather than in ACN can close their eyes in shame. When men thinks they can play God the result is catastrophic.

MAKING NIGERIA UNGOVERNABLE:HE OWES US AN EXPLANATION.

It is welcome ,but before Atiku can lay claim to statesmanship in Nigeria again ,he owes the country an unconditional public apology for the statements he issued before the elections. He has to work on establishing credibility before the eyes of a vast majority of Nigerians,we simply dont believe he wishes the country well as long as he is not occupiying Aso rock.

His patriotic credentials has been in question ever since and it's gonna be an uphill task to win that trust in at least in one half of the country.

goodnews

haha bombers big borther in north

@ Talk to your Taliban brothers

Statement such as this; "Talk to your Taliban brothers" is mindbuggling. I am ashamed to now realize how pervasive ignorance and hate runs deep in Nigeria.
What was said by the former VP is commendable and should not be relegated. You can hate the guy but respect his messsage. Especially, when the ideas behind the message begs for peace. Thus by treating it with levity not only add to the vices presently destroying our fragile society but it also shows we have so many simpletons running wild as citizens of Nigeria.

A better response than BUHARI's!

At least this is a more refreshing and better response than the one made by clueless BUHARI, who thinks or believes wishing Terrorism away is like magic and with a wand. Atiku hit the nail on the head, terrorism is a new challenge to our security forces. They, therefore, require the support and cooperation of every Nigerian, including the civilians (to give out information) and the security forces (to prioritise intelligence and espionage work) and the International community.

BUT WHY DO THESE PEOPLE RELY ON THEIR MEDIA OUTFITS OR ERRAND BOYS TO MAKE SUCH SPEECHES FOR THEM? AT TIMES LIKE THIS, PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR THEM SPEAK AND NOT THROUGH THEIR SURROGATES!

Rubbish! You promised you

Rubbish! You promised you would make Nigeria ungovernable; this is still fresh in our minds. If Jonathan were a strong man, you should be singing now in the security cell, bastard.

Talk to your Taliban brothers

Talk to your Taliban brothers to stop shading innocent blood

ATIKU A FOOL

what a fool that Atiku! bomb the hell out of Nigeria, and then turn around to patronise us with stupid statements. was this moron not the same guy that lost in the PDP primaries and even lost in his home state of adamawa?
