#BringBackOurGirls Abuja Family Resumes Daily Sit Out

The #BringBackOurGirls Abuja Family will today resume our daily sit-outs at the Unity Fountain from 3pm following the suit we filed against the FCT police Commissioner for banning protests in Abuja and against the backdrop of the counteracting statement credited to the Inspector General of Police reaffirming the constitutional and democratic rights of citizens to conduct peaceful assemblies and protests.

Our lawyers, Falana and Falana Chambers informed us this afternoon that we do not yet have a court hearing date for our suit challenging the power of the FCT Commissioner to infringe on our rights to peaceful assembly.

We had also yesterday, written to the Inspector General of Police requesting police protection for our #BringBackOurGirls gatherings.

We have therefore decided that we shall continue our daily sit outs until our girls are back and alive

In the meantime, we have decided that we shall continue our daily sit outs until our girls are back and alive. We therefore wish to reassure members of the public that we shall remain civil, orderly and peaceful as we have been widely acknowledged to be since the last one month of our activities.
