EFCC Re-Arraigns Ayo Fayose

The Economic and Financial crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday November 22, 2012 re-arraigned a former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose over a N416, 138, 360.75 ( Four Hundred and Sixteen Million, One Hundred and Thirty Eight Thousand, Three Hundred and Sixty Naira, Seventy-Five Kobo) scam.
He was docked on a 27 count amended charge before Justice Adamu Hobon of the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti. He pleaded not guilty to the charges which border on conversion of public funds for personal use and abuse of office while he held sway as governor of Ekiti state. Fayose's re-arraignment was sequel to the transfer of Justice Emmanuel Obile who had been the trial judge.
EFCC’s counsel, Adebisi Adeniyi told the court that the accused was on bail and that he was not going to challenge that. Counsel to Fayose, Owoseni Ajayi had sought to stall the re-arraignment by opposing the appearance of Adeniyi as EFCC counsel on the grounds that the fiat to prosecute the case was given to Rotimi Jacobs and not Adeniyi. He also told the court that the fiat was not transferable and so the prosecution had no counsel in court. However Adeniyi told the court to dismiss the submission of Ajayi on the grounds that the case was an EFCC case and that EFCC was statutorily empowered to prosecute its cases. "This is a case that was initiated by EFCC. EFCC has power to initiate and prosecute. Having been briefed by the EFCC which is empowered by the Money Laundering Act, I do not need to come to court to show my letter of authorization" Adeniyi told the court.
Justice Hobon ruled that the defence's counsel objection lacked merit and that Adeniyi could hold brief for the EFCC.
Fayose was first arraigned in 2007 at the Federal High Court Lagos for allegedly misappropriating huge amount of the state funds when he held sway at governor of Ekiti State. He later challenged the jurisdiction of the court on the grounds that the alleged offence was not committed in Lagos but Ekiti State.
The matter was then re-assigned to the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti division.
Justice Hobon has adjourned proceedings to January 24, 2013.

If for argument sake, investigation of a land case involving the above suspects reveal fraud, impersonation and criminal conversion of property, will the EFCC NOT investigate and prosecute the criminal offence?? If the answer is negative, then NIGERIA under the present management of the EFCC,
is not fighting scams, fraud and corruption!
The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has curiously remained "silent" on all my petitions with documentary evidence including Akinfemi Onadele's several lies to the NBA. He wrote to Chief Bandele Aiku, SAN, NBA Disciplinary Committee Chairman that
he acted for Ispat Steel and when asked to also act for my company SamGrace & Co Ltd, he "declined" claiming that "it will be tantamount to acting for the 2 parties buying/selling" my company's land! He still wrote to Land authorities that he is my company's "solicitor"!

EFCC, please prosecute Raj Gupta, Alok Gupta and Akinfemi Onadele of Ispat Steel Nig Ltd, "found to have a case to answer" in EFCC report (CR; 3000/EFCC/LS/CT&GI/TA/VOL.5/607 dated 20/10/2010) in a case of criminal conversion of property and impersonation. They used land docs of their Plot C8 to obtain Governor's Consent to Assignment, registration and illegal occupation of Plot C9 Amuwo Odofin Commercial Scheme, property of my company, SamGrace & Co Ltd. In public depositions they claim they are the "bonafide purchaser of Plot C9" for which they obtained Governor's Consent to Assignment, which they registered as "20/20/2066". CTC of that land title shows it belongs to Plot C8 they claim they "purchased from Lawson Thomas & Colleagues". Lagos Land Registry has canceled the "fraudulently registered Memorandum of Loss" they used for the deal. Akinfemi Onadele impersonated my lawyer!
The fraud is criminal offence NOT "civil" as "discovered" and stated by the EFCC in letter of 29/6/12.

Akpos, I believe you're likely from Delta State unless your camouflagging Ibo man that go by the name. Whenever you're bring in the issue of united South South and South East " Biafra Nation" you've got to be wary of the Ibo nationalities as the South South minorities would never suscribe to be united with Ibos. Make an inquiry from SS elders that witness the war and they'll tell you the atrocities and oppression meted to them by the Ibos during the war. Here's an ethnic group that went to war due to perceived oppression by Hausas, and displayed similar aggression on other ethnic minority in the then Biafra. The marriage will never work as Ibo are intolerant of themselves based on state divides, how could they tolerate other non-Ibo in thei midst. South South will either seek their own identity rather that been joint with ibos in the so called failed and extinct Biafra project they are re-visiting.
