The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has concluded arrangement to arraign a Malaysia- based Nigerian fraudsters, Hope Olusegun Aroke and his accomplice, Tafida Garuba Ibrahim before a Federal High Court, Lagos tomorrow, Monday January 21, 2013. They will be docked before Justice Mohammed Idris on two separate charges of Money laundering and False Declaration of Assets.

Aroje was one of two Malaysia-based Nigerian undergraduate fraudsters arrested by the EFCC in the closing weeks of 2012 at the 1004 Housing Estate, Victoria Island,   Lagos following a tip- off. The 25 year-old indigene of Okene, Kogi State claims to be a student of Computer Science at the Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University, Malaysia. But the Commission’s investigation fingered him as the arrow head of an intricate web of internet fraud scheme that traverse two continents.

His accomplice, Tafida Ibrahim is a Bureau De Change operator. Through him, Aroke was able to launder proceeds of multiple scams to the tune of over N31million. The duo enjoy a cozy business relationship that saw Ibrahim travel to Malaysia twice between September and October 2012 at the instance of Aroke.

When Aroke was arrested, a search conducted by EFCC operatives on his apartment led to the recovery of several items such as laptops, iPad phones, travelling documents, cheque books, flash drives, internet modem, and three exotic cars - a Mercedes Benz Jeep, One 4Matic Mercedes Benz Car and a Range Rover Sport SUV.

Operatives of the EFCC also downloaded over 80 implicating documents from the laptops recovered from him.

EFFCC ARE BASTERDS

God help us

EFCC should not whip the legs and forget the head. Want to kill a problem? then cut of it's head. Simple question. Why do you think they are fraudsters in Nigeria? Do they think people like to look over their shoulders? Most of these fraudsters are graduates without jobs. When they complain, they will tell them to learn a skill, entrepreneurship and gbogboe. As if its that easy. Our government want to copy civilized countries, but you can never see them copying good things from them (e.g a police can arrest a soldier in a civilized country. But for niger, dem go burn police station). ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIMES COMMISSION. Anyway i don't blame them, it is not their fault entirely.

Foolish efcc

efcc are fools they are not doing their works the way they should, harrassing innocent citizens and the main criminals are left to walk around free ly with the nations wealth. Look at the issue of that old man how much is N1.4m to be compared wit what the pple in power are cattin away with? that such an old man at his age wil be ducked. Abeg make dem end dis nonsense called efcc. Becus if them comtinue like dis them go knw say guys no dey smile at all we just dey play cool. 4get make i knw talk sha becus this country na my own too i no fit spoil am. Kudos EFCC but when will u download whats inthe flash drives of OBJ, IBB, Odili, Atiku, Igbinedion, dangote, Otedola, David Mark, Lawan, Tinubu, GEJ, e.t.c

You have refused to follow the tip off from Nigerians as you did in Hope Olusegun Aroke's case. . .

Don't be selective, go for the ones that have stolen our collective wealth. . . I bet they(i.e. above listed names) all have incriminating flash drives and laptops too...

Sure you are one of the Yahoo

Sure you are one of the Yahoo Yahoo boys and just defending your own

The arraignment of the

The arraignment of the Malaysia- based Nigerian fraudsters, Hope Olusegun Aroke and his accomplice, Tafida Garuba Ibrahim before a Federal High Court, Lagos, is a right step in the right direction. The EFCC should leave no stone unturned in the prosecution of the accused. Catch them one by one.

ALL HAIL EFCC

All hail EFCC for the successful investigation and arrest of those yahoo-yahoo boys. The operatives who carried out this superlative operations leading to the prosecution of the boys deserve a part at the back. Kudos to Ibrahim Lamorde's EFCC.

Whether small or big, let the

Whether small or big, let the EFCC send these looters and the 419ers to jail. Nobody should be above the law. Simple!

Internent fraudstar

Where are the Liers ( sorry, Lawyers) ?? Right time to move in and plead all 'pleadables' - Nigeria go survive these vermins!

EFCC is no doubt doing a very

EFCC is no doubt doing a very good job. It is only evil men that will say something negative about the EFCC. I wonder why a right thinking person will point accusing fingers at EFCC that it has lost steam. The arrest and prosecution of the 419er boys is also an indication that the Commission is on top of its assignment. Those who say EFCC is chasing shadow are either sleeping or not in tune with the reality. EFCC keep up the good job.

Haba, Leave EFCC To Do Its Job!

It is nauseating for people to attach ethnic sentiments to crime. Fraudsters do not discriminate when they go for thier victims.Their are igbo, yoruba and hausa scammers. And the law exist to deal with all of them.
Frankly, i don't see why EFCC should be condemned for arresting a fraudster. Is the agency not there to fight financial and economic crimes? what some of us have forgotten is the fact that it is the so called small criminals that graduate into big time looters. Some 419ers have found their way into governement houses in this country. And until you are a victim of scam, you may not be able to appreciate the danger these band of criminals pose to society. EFCC deserves commendation, not condemnation!

EFCC WHY!

EFCC is now a shadow of itz old self. U go along chasing petty scammers n leave the real murderers, fraudsters, thieves, bandits, killers, 419ners, to mention a few. That are occupying the legislative, judiciary, and executive in abuja. These people are even war criminals cuz they have succeded in causing religious fights were thousands have died. Worst tin is dat GEJ knows them but gives them awards instead. Yet u go n make the arrest of a 25yr old scammer big news. Don't get me wrong! He shld b arrested but dat shldnt even b news

Shame

efcc is not doing anything at all you people should first arrest those governments agents, pension scammers and senior thieves in the legislative chambers instead of ordinary nigeria trying to survive. Efcc shame on you.

Stop troubling people who are trying to survive

EFCC should Stop troubling people who are trying to survive and concentrate on the issues directly concerning our Country. That is with the politicians and Government people.
Please leave our boys alone they are driven to this trade of theirs because of the hopeless state of our Country.
Even EFCC OF TODAY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND I AM SURE THEY ARE GUILTY OF SO MUCH

u not serious!!!

I hate ppl that are tribalistic. The fact that more igbo ppl are caught on drug and fraudulent cases does not mean that other tribes don't commit these crimes.

There is no Anti-Corruption fight Without the EFCC!!

It is like they say whenever you choose to fight darkness, darkness will surely fight back! All those calling for the EFCC remember the Devil is a lier.

The EFCC is the only organisation that has made any inroads to fighting corruption. Instead of calling for it to be disbanded, use your sense.

The EFCC needs to be positively EMPOWERED through the LAW, through RESOURCES available to it, and also you and I the citizens need to empower the EFCC to do its job by supporting it!

BUILD don't DESTROY: Empower the EFCC to do its job!

God punish EFCC

This is rubbish EFCC has lost it…God punish EFCC. Arrest all the political elite they should come and defend their properties and life of luxury they living then we can say EFCC is working. Nigerians are watching.

I'm also internet scammer

I'm also internet scammer like this guy they cought but they most leave him cos the government are suffering us no money everywhere so we can't wait,we will use our experience to get what we want from Onyibo, so I hope they leave him

Chasing shadows

Although I do not support 419ers and their likes, but EFCC is now chasing shadows and need to be disbanded. The institution has lost its glory and for all I care, its just a waste of resources having it these days. EFCC went away with Ribadu even though it had selective prosecution then but the fear of Ribadu was then the beginning of fears for the politicians.
The big thieves are there still oppressing the masses in Abuja and these jokers are running after small 419ers and business transactions that went sour in Lagos. What a joke and hopeless situation in Nigeria? It only goes to confirm that GEJ is clueless as he should have changed out the leadership or merge it with ICPC under the leadership of someone more serious and focused than this guy.

How una go jail them, are they Igbos?. Haba EFCC!

He can't be from Kogi state. No way!. A proper investigation should be conducted to ascertain where he came from exactly. He must be an Igbo. I thought naijas says its only Igbo who are fraudsters. They have even exonerated the Yorubas who invented money in the bank letter and credit cards fraud. Amazing!. Little by little all those criminals who has dragged the name of naija to the mud will be exposed. No dodging from fate.

Also, the Hausa-fulanis who committed pogrom against my eastern brothers must pay for thier sins. The law of karma must take its full course. GowonERs beware!

EFCC should leave this arraignment propanganda. No be today we begin see thier gragra. How can you jail them when they are not Igbos. Next story jare. Make I go drink beer, Deri do you mind for a bottle?!.
