Saharareporters has learned that the governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva and his Bauchi counterpart Isah Yuguda, paid for the mobilization of miscreants to clash with respected Nigerians who were organizing the rally to force Yar’Adua to resign.

Tired of waiting for Acting President Goodluck Jonathan to seize the authority of his office and take far-reaching decisions in the interest of Nigeria, the Save Nigeria Group (SNG) rally in Abuja today had only one message for him, act firm and to his ailing boss, the rally sent strong words: “Speak to Nigerians or resign immediately.”

It would be the first time a high profile government official would be attending a protest rally organized by the SNG to force ailing Yar'adua to fully relinquish power to his his deputy, Goodluck Jonathan.

Ibori held UK accounts, and his agent was prosecuted for fraud and conspiracy, UK court hears

Evidence unveiled in the ongoing London trial involving James Ibori’s associates today showed that the former Delta State governor held multiple UK accounts, and one of his agents was prosecuted for conspiracy and fraud in the UK. Testifying today before the Southwark Crown Court presided by Mr Christopher Harding, two officers of the London Metropolitan Police presented evidence obtained during the search of the house of Mr Ibori’s agent, while one civilian witness- a fraud analyst with Barclays Bank- gave evidence in respect of Mr Ibori’s several bank accounts.

Jonathan Removes NSA Sarki Mukhtar

The acting president Goodluck Jonathan has removed the national security adviser Sarki Mukhtar with immediate effect.  He has been replaced with Aliyu Gasau. Sarki's removal was announced at the National Security Council meeting called by Jonathan to review the Jos crisis.

Fire Maurice Iwu now, NLC urges Federal Government

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called for the removal of Maurice Iwu from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement issued at the end of an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) in Kaduna on Thursday to discuss the State of the Nation, with particular reference to the petroleum industry, the NLC said Iwu “has inflicted enough damage on the electoral integrity of the nation that all patriots must work to have him removed and prevented from presiding over preparations of the next general elections.”
