Indebtedness to satellite providers: AIT goes off air

The operations of DAAR Communications Plc, Nigeria’s mega private television network, ground to a halt today as its international and national network signals were taken off air. AIT may still be able to produce local programs on UHF.  AIT Television is the major service of DAAR Communications Plc. a company that was listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange.

Dateline Abuja: Federal Executive Council meeting canceled

Today's meeting of the Executive Council of the Federation, which was postponed, in the morning, 2: 00 p.m., was later canceled, the second time since Goodluck took power as **Acting President.  Saharareporters was told that the Ministers were already seated for the 2:00 p.m. start when the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ahmed Yayale, announced that the meeting owing to the unavailability of Jonathan.

It would be the first time a high profile government official would be attending a protest rally organized by the SNG to force ailing Yar'adua to fully relinquish power to his his deputy, Goodluck Jonathan.

Ibori held UK accounts, and his agent was prosecuted for fraud and conspiracy, UK court hears

Evidence unveiled in the ongoing London trial involving James Ibori’s associates today showed that the former Delta State governor held multiple UK accounts, and one of his agents was prosecuted for conspiracy and fraud in the UK. Testifying today before the Southwark Crown Court presided by Mr Christopher Harding, two officers of the London Metropolitan Police presented evidence obtained during the search of the house of Mr Ibori’s agent, while one civilian witness- a fraud analyst with Barclays Bank- gave evidence in respect of Mr Ibori’s several bank accounts.
