By Premium Times

Oliha who was born in October 1968 in Benin City, Nigeria, died in the early hours of Sunday.

Until his death, Oliha was one of the coaches at the Kwara State Football Academy in Ilorin.

Sam Elijah, former teammate and colleague at Kwara Academy, confirmed Oliha’s death to PREMIUM TIMES in a telephone chat.

A retired Nigerian midfielder, Oliha played for clubs in Africa and Europe during a career marred by injury.

He played for Bendel Insurance (1985-1987), Iwuanyanwu Nationale (1988-1991), Africa Sports (1992-1993), Maccabi Ironi Ashdod F.C. (1993-1994) and Antalyaspor (1994-1995).

As a player, he was known for his powerful shots and abilities in the air. Oliha retired at the age of 27, as a result of a serious knee injury.
One of the wishes of Oliha before his death was for the federal government to fulfil the promise of a house General Sani Abacha promised the Super Eagles for winning the Tunisia 1994 Nations Cup. Sadly, he did not see that come true in his life time.

Oliha becomes the third player to die among the much celebrated Nigeria 1994 squad, joining Uche Okafor and Rashidi Yekini in the great beyond.

That will be a wonderful trip and an experience of a lifetime. I watched the video of the Polar Plunge you shared, wow! Will you be jumping in? Seems like great material for a blog post about "taking the plunge for . . ." Cheap Hublot watch

good night thompson oliha

OFR! That's what i used to call you. you were footbal personified. you were extremely hard working (as Gattuso was also hard working) though you were not well celebrated but for some of us who understand the nitty gritty of football, we knew you were an engine room not just for supper eagles but for all the clubs you played for.

As a memeber of Ilorin all stars football club, we all will miss playing football with an ex international who had seen it all.

As for Nigeria the country is not worth dying for. i am so happy you did not depend on the country's vague promise made to you.

good night my very very talented MIDFIELDER, FATHER , HUSBAND AND FRIEND.

RIP Mr Oliha - the Engine

RIP Mr Oliha - the Engine room for Super eagles mid field...

Those who should die are refusing to die...

...all those who have been stealing my oil money like Thief Obasanjo, IBB, Babalakin,Jimoh Ibrahim, Dmeji Bank-Ole, abdulsalami, Danjuma etc are still alive while patriots like Yekini, Okafor & now Oliha are gone.

Oh good lord, kill & destroy all those who have been stealing my oil & who illegally own my oil blocks. Kill them, afflict them with diseases that German, Saudi, US & Canadian hospitals & Babalawos cannot cure. Let them die & the birds of the air feed on their pungent smelling bodies. Let even the earth reject them. Let their places in hell be heated to the number of centigrade equal to the figures of the Naira they stole from my oil&gas.

...as they have polluted our waters, land & air, let their stomach, liver, heart, blood vessles, kidneys be polluted in good measure. We pray Oh Lord. Amen & Amen. Thomson, rest in Peace.

O my God

Oh my God what a great lost at this young age, may his soul rest in perfect peace. AMEN

O my God

Oh my God what a great lost at this young age, may his soul rest in perfect peace. AMEN

The Fools After Abacha Couldn't Even keep Promise Of A House!!!

So sad. May his soul rest in peace. That the fools that came to Aso Rock after Abacha did not keep the promise of houses to the Eagles leaves much to be desired.

Fools, Corrupt individuals and what have you are given national honors that they don't deserve while these young men/women that brings glory to the nation are completely forgotten and left to die in abject poverty.

SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME and BIG SHAME to our so called leaders who are all nothing but ROGUES.

R.I.P. Oliha.

Rest in peace Thompson Oliha

He was a hardworking midfielder and less celebrated in the 1994 Afcon win in Tunisia, than some of his colleague. Good on the air and has blazing shot, mixed with good tackling and ball distribution.
Rest in peace Thompson Oliha

Sad

Sad end of another gifted player. May his gentle rest in peacxe and may God gives the family the fportitude to bear this great loss. Hios death is a minus not just for his family but for the football family inn Nigeria. Adiuo gifted Oliha

Bye bye senior!

If a man knows the time that all will be over maybe he will make better plan.

You are a blessing to your generation, country and the continent of Africa.

Even you go so soon, only you and your God knows why but for us, we will continue to pray for you.

May the Lord forgive all your sins, give your families and the entire nation the fortitude to bear the lost and take good care of all you left behind.

Adieu Oliha
