Nigeria Super Eagles To Play A friendly Match Against Mexico In Houston

African champions Nigeria will clash with the champions of North and Central America, Mexico in a high-profile international friendly match in Houston, Texas on May 31, 2013.

“The Nigeria Football Federation and its match agent, Eurodata Sport Marketing Sportivo e Culturale are pleased to announce that the Super Eagles will play against Mexico’s Senior Team in a friendly match at the Reliant Stadium, Houston, Texas on Friday, May 31, starting from 9pm Texas time,” NFF General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu said on Wednesday.

He added: “We are pleased that the reigning African champions will have such high-quality final preparation for the important games that we have in the month of June.”

The Super Eagles, currently top of their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying group take on Kenya’s Harambee Stars in Nairobi on June 8 before travelling to the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

The match in Texas will be the third of a five-match American tour for the Mexicans, who also face daunting dates in CONCACAF’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying event in June.

The last time both countries met was in a battling friendly inside the Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez in Chihuahua, Mexico in October 2007 – it ended 2-2.
