Response to Prof. Adeyeye on Bankole's N1 billion Guest House

January 10, 2010

Dear Adeyeye: I am sure you know Speaker Dimeji Bankole personally and would probably have his phone number to inquire about this misinformation by people who want to destroy the Speaker at all cost. Let me inform you that this misinformation was posted on the Internet Yahoogroups over the weekend by persons we believe are working for their master in Ogun State bent on destroying Bankole for their selfish interest and we promptly responded to correct the misinformation.

The House does not belong to Bankole and he did not buy it. The House is the official Guest House of the Speaker of House Of Representatives and not that of Speaker Bankole. It is for anybody who is Speaker just like the Official residence of the Speaker. I need not explain to you sir the uses to which guest houses are meant for. But I am aware that you know that Speaker Bankole still lives in his three bedroom apartment at Apo Legislative Quarters as his official residence is yet to be renovated by FCDA two years after he became Speaker!

As a former legislator you will appreciate the number of meetings the Speaker have to do with members and caucus to run the House. This, usually is the major functon of the Guest House where the Speaker hold breakfast meetings with members and leadership of the House from time to time. And let it be said that the Speaker only have one guest house unlike other officials with more than one spread acroo Nigeria. Speaker Bankole case is only special because the Pull Him Down Gang after him cannot find anything against him after all their false allegations over time have failed. In this instance they are completely wrong as the house is not the personal house of Bankole and he did not buy same for the fantastic amount being quoted. In actual fact the house is rented for the purpose it is serving..

Thank you sir.

Chief Kayode Odunaro JP

Speaker, House of Representatives
