IG of Police Ehindero back against the wall, restores Ladoja's security

November 3, 2006
The Inspector General of Police, Sunday Ehindero who had played coy over the Oyo State crisis was today busted by the Supreme Court, in a public statement circulaed to the media, the Supreme Court berated the IG over his statement in which he implied that the appeal court decisions in Oyo State will not be implemented until the Supreme Court rules on an 'appeal' before it.

The Supreme Court while expressing surprise over the statement credited to the IGP also stated that the so-called appeal by the 18 lawmakers of Oyo State house of assembly had not been filed before it and thus wondered how the IGP came about the conclusion that there is an appeal against the judgment. The Supreme Court, in a rare public denouncement of the IG, made it clear that there was nothing standing in the way of the execution of the appeal court judgment, which most legal experts agreed was "self-declaratory".

By 4:30 PM  today in Abuja, the Inspector General of Police, announced that the security detail of Alhaji Rasheed Ladoja, the improperly impeached governor of Oyo State, would now be restored immediately. It did not state if the security detail of the illegal governor, Alao Akala would be withdrawn as he still parades himself as the "Governor of Oyo State".

It is also not clear why the otherwise boisterous Attorney General of Nigeria, Chief Bayo Ojo did not make any public statements about the appeal court ruling in Ibadan the same way he firmly denounced the impeachment of Governor Fayose in Ekiti State.

Sources in Aso Rock told Saharareporters that President Obasanjo had been in dilemma over what to do with the Oyo State crisis. "After their exuberant outing in Ekiti State, which was near disaster for Obasanjo his cup seem full", commented our source.

Meanwhile, the president who is currently in China might have commenced the next round of impeachment crisis in Ogun, Lagos, Abia, Adamawa, Enugu and Plateau (where they are in a state of flux), according to sources, EFCC officials have moved in quietly to these states in the last 72 hours.
