Our investigations into Andy Uba’s educational background determined that Andy Uba does not have a Bachelors degree from Concordia University {formerly Sir George Williams University} —a Canadian institution he claimed to have attended. The official records at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada indicate that he dropped out prior to completing the requirements for a Bachelor’s degree. The university’s alumni office of records told us that Concordia University has no record of Uba ever graduating from the school.

Our investigations also revealed a wrinkle in Uba’s claim to having obtained a Master’s degree from California State University. The official records we obtained from California State University indicated that the former presidential aide never earned a Master’s degree from there. In fact, he was never a graduate student of the said institution. The records of California State University show that Andy Uba was first enrolled at the school for an undergraduate program from March 1985 and dropped out March 1987 and then re-enrolled in September 27, 1990 till March 21, 1992 when he dropped out again, but never graduated. One curious discovery that made it a little difficult to obtain Uba’s entire records at the university was the fact that he altered his date of birth in the school records from December 15 to December 14 when he re-enrolled in September 1990. The underlying reason behind this alteration is hard to ascertain.

Uba’s claim to possessing a doctorate degree from Buxton University in the United Kingdom is shaky and questionable. “Since he has no certifiable first degree, the idea of his holding a doctorate is, on the face of it, fraudulent,” a Nigerian academic resident in the U.K. told us. Besides, Buxton University is an unaccredited institution with some notoriety for awarding bogus degrees to clients willing to pay a set fee. While claiming to exist in London, England, the “university” has its address in Portugal. Critics have called it a diploma mill. “It’s a scam,” said one expert familiar with the workings of such establishments that pass themselves off as universities. “In fact, it is a business that caters to vain clients who desire to buy hollow insignia of knowledge without facing the rigor of academic work.” Another source put it bluntly: “If Uba is claiming to have a PhD from Buxton, then he is simply flaunting an overpriced, worthless piece of paper he purchased with cash.” As one of Andy Uba’s close friends in Los Angeles put it, “it was public knowledge Andy Uba did not graduate from any college with an undergraduate degree, talk-less of a Ph D”.

What is interesting to note is as the information on Andy Uba degree hoax began to leak and as it reached Andy Uba and his close associates, Andy Uba was reported to be frantic and his actions erratic, this is according to a source from his inner circle who also told our investigators that Andy Uba reacted immediately by canceling all previously scheduled meetings and celebrations following his victory at the PDP primary on Saturday in attempts at stopping the information from reaching the public. According to the source and confirmed by members of Dr. Ekwueme’s family, Andy Uba went as far as to attempt to purchase the favor of the former vice president of Nigeria – Dr. Alex Ekwueme by purchasing two SUV Toyota Prado vehicles for two of Dr. Ekwueme’s wives – of which the wives accepted and in return, each wife, in show of appreciation, prepared him “bitter leaf soup” and “Ora soup”. However, it is not certain what Dr. Ekwueme’s take on the gift was, or whether Andy Uba achieved his aim.

Also, the publishers of Lagos-based TheNEWS magazine that published the Uba story issued a statement earlier today informing the general public in Nigeria that “Dr.” Andy Uba’s agents bought off all copies of the magazine from their distributing agents, since they failed woefully to stop the production of the story.

Meanwhile, reliable sources within the US Immigration and Custom Enforcement Agency who played key roles in the investigation of Uba’s money laundering case revealed that there was more to the original case. One special agent familiar with the case disclosed that Obasanjo’s Ota Farm was the original focus of the investigation. However, pressure came from the U.S. State Department, necessitating a change of direction by investigators. According to our source, the initial searchlight was beamed on the equipment purchased by Loretta Mabinton and delivered to the president’s Ota Farm. The agent told us that, in the early stages of the investigation, the agency came across considerable evidence of a grander network of money laundering that involved the President of Nigeria and his aides.

The agent explained that President Obasanjo appeared to have reacted furiously at finding himself beset by an American investigation. He said the Nigerian president may have forced the American government to rethink the direction of its money-laundering investigation. The agent lamented that Obasanjo’s high-stakes power play shifted the focus of the inquiry away from the president and his farm. He was only permitted to focus on Andy Uba and Loretta Mabinton. As a result, he ended up building a civil forfeiture case from the investigations instead of a full criminal case that would have seen Mr. Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba extradited to the US to face money laundering charges….

More to come...
