Anambra State: Mrs. Virgy Etiaba Refuses to Vacate Office

December 29, 2006

The legal crisis in Anambra State has taken a new dimension.  As the current governor Mrs. Virgy Etiaba refuses to vacate office to her ex-erstwhile boss Peter Obi.

Shortly after an Anambra State High Court gave a judgment nullifying Peter Obi’s impeachment, she got in contact with Andy Uba asking him to protect her from the court judgment.  Uba in turn got in touch with President Obasanjo who asked the State Assembly members to appeal the impeachment reversal.

Also the Anambra State House of Assembly is poised to remove the High Court judge who reversed Obi’s impeachment.  The State House of Assembly will send the resolution on sacking of the judge to the governor for approval and this resolution is supposed to be back dated to last week.

At the time of going to press Saharareporters cannot confirm the position of the Attorney General Bayo Ojo, SAN who is attending the emergency federal executive meeting with President Obasanjo, where they are deliberating on further plot to remove Vice President Atiku Abubakar, but source close to the federal executive meeting told Saharareporters that the Attorney General will ask Peter Obi to wait until the appeal is completed all the way to the Supreme Court as in the case of Oyo State Governor Ladoja.
