As earlier reported by Saharareporters, Vice President Atiku who  just landed back in Nigeria after a knee surgery in the UK, was excluded from the list of Presidential candidates released in Abuja today by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).

Surprisingly, the list included another controversial presidential candidate, Mr. Orji Uzor Kalu, confirming earlier speculations that the entire "indictment exercise" by the presidency was only targeted at a few politicians who pose real threat to the PDP candidates, in particular, ex-Governor Chris Ngige who would have squared off with President Obasanjo's senior special assistant on Domestic Affairs, Andy Uba in Anambra State. Andy Uba who enjoys firm support from the highest levels of INEC will be going to the polls without any credible opponent as candidates of all the major parties have been banned by INEC.

Saharareporters spoke with a source close to Atiku campaign before going to press to ask if he knew what the next line of action would be. He said to our reporter that they are not bordered with INEC list. "As far as we are concerned, it is nonsense, our candidate remains in the race based upon court pronouncements". Local newspapers have reported that VP Atiku will file contempt proceedings against the Chairman of INEC, Maurice Iwu to have him committed to prison for contempt of court. It is not clear how they plan to proceed in the face of the latest developments.
