Tinubu part ways with Abubakar Atiku

The fragile alliance between top members of the Action Congress (AC) has hit the rocks with the parting of ways between Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ahmed Bola Tinubu of Lagos State.

When the April 21 2007 flawed presidential elections were concluded, Saharareporters had asked Governor Bola Tinubu what the reaction of the opposition would be to the flawed elections. His reply was specious, “We won’t take any actions, we just want Obasanjo to leave on May 29th”

According to our sources, Governor Bola Tinubu did carry it beyond that, he was said to have reached out toYar’adua to extend his hands of solidarity to the winner of the flawed elections. This was said to have sent Atiku into a state of depression hastening his departure from Nigeria to the UK and later to the US where he is expected to be “resting” until after May 29th.

Bola Tinubu is said to be close friends with Umar Yar’adua, a friendship that predates the current political dispensation. He made this much clear to Atiku in communications gleaned by our investigators. The latestt confrontation between the duo was said to be very direct, Tinubu has told Atiku to let go of any form of resistance against Yar’adua “electoral victory” because, he Atiku had already made his point in fighting very hard to get on the ballot according to Governor Tinubu who maintains a distance from Atiku ever since the last confrontation while he constantly and regularly encourages Yar’adua and assures him of his unflinching support.
