How Fani Kayode Uses Women To Launder Money Abroad

June 29, 2007
Pointblanknews.com has uncovered more startling details about the stewardship of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s former spokesperson and ex-Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani Kayode, while he was holding the portfolios of Minister of Culture and Tourism and later as Minister of Aviation. His score card is nothing but huge abuse of office. He ferried huge amount of money abroad and took the word nepotism to an embarrassing level.

The jury is still out as to why Chief Fani Kayode decided to handle life in public office the way he shamefully did. Highly placed sources told Pointblanknews.com that Chief Fani Kayode personally created long line overlapping redundant managerial position while he ran the Aviation Ministry as the helmsman.

Appallingly, the almost forty positions of General Manager in charge of this or that mainly went to women. Many of these women that Femi Fani-Kayode hired were said to be inexperienced in aviation related matters. As a matter of fact, quite a number of them were said to have been involved with him in amorous relationship(s) and, wait for this, he used majority of them as human conduit for taking stolen funds abroad. Many of these women were said to have extensively assisted him to launder now hard to trace huge sums in foreign countries.

According to sources some of these Managers assisted Femi Fani-Kayode to launder over $100 Million in hard to trace foreign accounts within the period he served as Minister of Tourism and Minister for Aviation.

One of those women, the daughter of former Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Folake St. Mathew-Daniel, who was hired by the ever loquacious Fani Kayode, was hired as Director of Legal Services at the Nigerian Airspace Management Services, NAMA, a strategic parastatal of the Aviation Ministry. Sources told Pointblanknews.com that on the day another “money courier” Chioma Ansoh for the former Minister was busted with over $240,000 by eagle-eyed Custom officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, Folake St. Mathew Daniel was on the same flight assisting Fani Kayode to carry overseas a similar amount of money.

Femi Fani Kayode ravenous love of money would not be easily explained more so he inherited a sizeable fortune from his late well-known late father, one time Deputy Premier of the defunct Western Region, Chief Remi Fani Kayode (Fani Power). Femi Fani Kayode was said to have done well in solid mineral (Gold and Diamond) prospecting in Ghana, but a life ravaged by hard drugs led to the auctioning of his father's properties. The answer, however may be provided when and if the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, ever shows interest in putting this powerful Nigerian under the radar.
