Embattled former governor of the oil rich Delta State, Chief James Ibori, is yet to fulfill the bail conditions by the Federal High court to secure his freedom from the Kaduna prison. He was still in custody at the time of filing this report this afternoon.
However, he might meet the three stringent conditions in the next 24 hours as the President of the Delta Community in Kaduna State, Chief Mike Edegware disclosed to P.M.News today that concerted efforts are being made to free him.
Edegware also said the bail conditions are those the former Delta governor could meet without stress.
P.M.News gathered that Ibori’s friends and associates including some members of the National Assembly and Delta State government have been running around Kaduna to lobby the three important persons resident in Kaduna required by the court to serve as sureties for his release from prison.
Information also gathered from members of Ibori’s legal team revealed that the three persons that would serve as sureties have agreed to do so since Ibori is a trusted friend and former governor of a state in Nigeria.
Efforts to get the names of the sureties from the legal team proved abortive as they declined to tell P.M.News.
On other conditions of bail, Chief Edegware who is also part of the legal team said the N50 million and submission of Ibori’s international passport are conditions “we can meet within a few hours.”
However, since the news of Ibori’s bail spread yesterday in Kaduna, Delta indigenes have stormed Kaduna to show solidarity with embattled Ibori.
Prison officials, P.M.News gathered, also shared in the celebration of Ibori’s bail as money and prison boots were shared among them.
P.M.News also gathered that Chief Lucky Igbinedion, the former Edo State governor, may also stay longer in prison as his bail conditions are yet to be fulfilled. At the time of filing this report, he was still in custody.
