Adamawa Governor Served Impeachment Notice-PM News

Barely two months after he was re-elected into office, Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, has been served a notice of impeachment by the State House of Assembly. The resolution to serve the notice of impeachment on the governor is in line with the constitutional provision cited by the Deputy Speaker, Aliu Isa Ahmadu.

Raising the point of order, the deputy speaker cited Section 188, Sub-section 2 of the 1999 Constitution.

This section deals with gross misconduct, and ground for the removal of the governor.

He also read out the 10 alleged impeachment offences committed by the governor which was adopted by the house.

At the end of the deliberations, 20 out of the 25 members of the House signed the impeachment notice.

The sitting was presided over by the Speaker, James Barka.

After the resolution, the House directed the clerk to communicate same to the governor.

The house adjourned sitting till 30 June.
