Ailing Nigeria “president” Umaru Yar’adua will dissolve his lack luster cabinet Wednesday (if his failing health permits) at the next Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The dissolution of the cabinet has suffered several delays due to his failing health which deteriorated since last week Wednesday. Though no official information is available regarding Yar’adua’s current state of health.

Impeccable sources told SaharaReporters Yar’adua did not come out of bed on Saturday and Sunday and that he did not receive any visitors or even engage in ‘breaking fast’ with political associates at the end of the daily Ramadan fasting. Our checks on his daily activities at the Presidential Villa shows that he was only engaging in private meetings as at the time of publishing this report.

As SaharaReporters earlier reported, Yar’adua canceled a scheduled trip to the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Our sources say he is using the proposed cabinet reshuffle to cover up for his failing health and his inability to fly to New York for the UN General Assembly. Another source told our reporters that another medical trip might be in the offing after the cabinet is dissolved and possibly reconstituted.

Yar’adua is expected to meet with the ministers tomorrow evening to have a “thank you” session and receive briefing from those he intended to remove from his cabinet. Our sources said two high profile ministers, - Minister of Finance, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman and the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Aliyu Modibbo Umar are slated for removal anytime Yar’adua gets around reshuffling his cabinet.

We could not independently verify the claims from official sources at the Presidency about the ministers actually slated for removal, but our investigators in Abuja reported that the FCT Minister has engaged in panic allocation of lands in Abuja since the news of cabinet reshuffle reached him.
“He, and the minister of justice and the Attorney general of the Federation, Michael Aondoakaa had embarked on propaganda paying and feeding local journalists with “exclusive stories” of a certain plot by former president Obasanjo to oust them from office. The same stories appeared as “exclusive stories” in at least four newspapers”, An anonymous source  at the presidency told SaharaReporters

Sources said Michael Aondoakaa, (who is currently representing Yar'adua at the United nations General Assembly in New York) may be retained because his presence in Yar’adua’s cabinet is needed to sway certain judges of the Supreme Court in deciding the Election Petitions Appeal in Yar’adua’s favor. Mr. Aondoakaa is a cousin to the second most senior justice at the Supreme Court, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu. .
