"Hello!Hello!Chichi!.....School is in fire o!".With these words my kid sister(thank God she's safe)informed me about the mayhem,the carnage,the wickedness,the havoc,wrecked on Abia state university and her students.A bloody day,caused by the host community-Uturu.Sometimes one just begins to wonder what kind of country one was born into.When has it become a crime for one to get a university education?What's going on?Of the four years i spent in ABSU (and years before me)there never was a time when students had problems with the Uturu community.If there ever was,it was peacefully settled and everybody co-cohabited peacefully.What has gone wrong?Where is that peace that once enveloped ABSU?
According to reports,a porter(a final year student)working with the university,who hailed from uturu,was killed by one of the cult groups in the university.The cult group was said to have visited him and shot him.

Angered by the murder of one of their own,the uturu community started a senseless killing spree of innocent students perharps.Killings of students sent to school to study by their parents.Parents of which some of them starve to send their wards to school.Is this spirit of revenge good for us?Does the uturu community know how many family's they have put in sorrow?Do they know how many hopes they just shattered?What about the efforts of the parents of the dead?Wasted abi?Was there no authority put in place in ABSU to report to before this senseless carnage?
The community heads;where were they?Is it not bestowed on them to calm their own down?Come to think of it,do cult boys just visit anybody anyhow?Are we missing something?Me thinks you are visited by cult boys if you are of a rival cult,or you are one of their own.Nobody should get me wrong.
Killing a fellow human being no matter what,is wrong.It's so unfortunate.As at some days ago,more than thirty students have been reported missing,more than four confirmed dead,and so many in the hospitals.This is totally unacceptable,especially when Nigeria has not gotten over the death of four youth corp member,murdered in cold blood in cold Jos.

It is not just enough for the Abia state government to express regret at the losses of lives and propery.It's now left for them to make proper investigations,fish out the bastards that committed this dastardly act,bring peace back to ABSU,and let the students go back to school,as this is another delay.The government should most of all ascertain the exact number of deaths and compensate the families of the dead.I sincerely sympathise with all those that lost somebody in this avoidable carnage.May we not see it again.May the lord rest the souls of the dead.Amen.
