Prelate Mbang's sermon to kidnappers

March 8, 2009
Sir: Prelate Mbang, one time President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, needs no much introduction. He is the fearless cleric who had been on the forefront of seeking better governance, even during the military era.  Some say though he still ate from them, nevertheless he criticized them.

Recently he admonished the youths of Nigeria, especially those in the Niger Delta area, some of who now form the habit of kidnapping or involved in militancy to remember that whatever they do now has repercussion thereafter. Indirectly, he might be lending voice to the capital punishment being canvassed by some of the State governments in the federation.

Being a fearless cleric, one would have loved to hear him also admonished those people in authority to ensure that the youths are taken care of.  This includes that only projects that would have economic and employment effects on the masses should be embarked upon by the various levels of government. If he could be that fearless during the military, one does not see why he should be afraid of the present bunches that do not carry official guns.

He should look at the faces of those in government and tell them where they are going wrong, because they are the ones encouraging bad situation presently in vogue.  And they do so by their life-styles to the full glare of the youths who annually graduate or drop out from various higher institutions with no job for their daily bread. Prelate Mbang and his likes, should fire on to directions that the attacks are coming from.
