AS ANOTHER OMOBORIOWO-AJASIN WAR LOOMS

March 30, 2009

As political weather in Ekiti Land gets hotter, I get worried. The last Omoboriowo-Ajasin mayhem is still fresh in my memory. Same was the injustice that caused the bloodshed. The situation now looks quite similar. I can sense injustice and insincerity everywhere. Then both NPN and UPN were election riggers. UPN was a strong on-the-field rigger. NPN was muscular in administrative rigging. But because NPN was in charge of the electoral commission, they were able to simply turn the result to their favour.

None of the two parties then was clean. The True Story What many Ekiti people did not realized then was that the struggle was actually as a result of the then incessant injustice against the Ekiti nation, which was then part of Ondo State. Omoboriowo was warring against that injustice. But he lacked Public Relations (ability to consistently communicate the truth to the people, who needed to know). Chief Obafemi Awolowo then, being an opinion leader, simply traveled to Ondo State, made a statement on a mass electronic medium-radio: "EYIN ENIYAN MI, E MASE JEKI WON GBE OBO OBA FOSUN, ENI TO BA GBE OMO OBA FOSUN A BALE LO NI", meaning, people should go to war if the election result was not in favour of UPN, a party as guilty of rigging as NPN.

That was the single match stick that set the entire state ablaze. Ignorantly, Ekiti people got disunited and started fighting one another. Meanwhile the root cause was that Chief Awolowo wanted to dictate who must rule in every UPN state, as if those states were annexes of Ogun State. Whereas Omoboriowo, and his supporters felt it was the turn of Ekiti to rule. Shadow election was dispersed with hooligans sponsored by Ajasin-Awolowo camp. The media knew. And they interviewed Omoboriowo that night. Question: What if Ajasin is declared winner tommorow? Omoboriowo: As you all know, there was no election. If that happens, I will leave UPN. Had Omoboriowo joined NAP then, NAP would have won in Ondo State. But, ill-advised, he joined NPN (now PDP); a party the whole nation knew was already running the nation aground.

Chief Oniororo, the then Ajasin-Awolowo chief press/PR man, went into action, publishing lots of information that were alleged not to be true. Omoboriowo was in trouble. He had no opportunity to tell his own side of the story. Ekiti he was fighting for (supposedly) went against him. Partly similar story is repeating itself now. The two parties of old (NPN vs UPN, now manifesting again as PDP vs AC), are planning to turn Ekiti to a battle ground. As a patriotic citizen , who believe strongly in a great future of Ekiti and Nigeria, I think Ekiti people should not allow these political opportunists to shed blood in Ekiti. I am bold to state thus: None of the two parties is trustworthy. None of their candidates is worth sacrificing for.

They are drumming for battle now. Are they fighting for you and I? No. They are fighting for the allocation from Abuja. Action Congress: Is AC not the same party still having AYO FAYOSE as its frontline/PR man? Was it not alleged that the former Lagos State governor mobilized him with hundreds of millions of Naira? So how credible is Uncle Bola Tinubu? How reliable is AC? Check them out! Peoples Democratic Party Are they democratic? Has that Party not insisted that Electoral Commission must continue to be aan appointee of Yaradua? Yes. A player serving as a referee? Is that justice? What has PDP government done for this great nation other than to breed a generation of looters and fraudsters? They have kept our nation in darkness for ages to prevent economic development(No electricity).

Vision 2010. Vision 2015. Vision 2020. From non-visionary leaders. Criminals in starched Agbada and crocodile skin shoes. If you would all reason with me, they are not worth dying for? It is better to maintain your peace in Ekiti. I am optimistic that God will soon raise for this nation a Moses and a party of civilized and God-fearing people. Do not allow these Inaction Congress (AC) and Power-drunk Undemocratic Party (PDP) people to turn Ekiti State to an Iraq or UK’s Northern Ireland? Ekiti People. You have not reached the Promised Land. Watch your backs.
