HIS EXCELLENCY, the Executive Governor of Kwara State DR. ABUBAKAR BUKOLA SARAKI’s attention has been drawn to an online publication, which was not only malicious but reckless, as it represents a premeditated plot to drag the good image and name of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki into the mud.
His Excellency would not want to join issues with faceless individuals or group of pull-him-down cabal. However, to correct the erroneous impression and put the record straight, there was no breach of any electoral guidelines in his nomination papers for the 2003 and 2007 general elections.
The Executive Governor participated and won the Elections according to the provision in the Electoral guidelines. At no time, I repeat, at no time was Governor Bukola Saraki arraigned before any competent court of law let alone found guilty or convicted as been portrayed in the malicious publication.
Similarly, there is no iota of truth in the claims that, the former Military president Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida allegedly intervened, the claim was not only fabricated but the imagination and invention of the author and co-sponsors of the Publication.
His Excellency’s Maternity is not in dispute as he was born into the respected and highly valued family in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. His birth certificate was registered at Registration District Hampstead, sub-District of Hampstead North in the Metropolitan Borough of Hampstead. The appropriate place to get such information is the registry where new births and deaths are registered. The sponsors are hereby advised to get their information at the designated office charged with such responsibilities.
On the issue of Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria, we are not competent to comment on the matter as the case was already before a competent court of law. The matter had been decided by the Court and its decisions were made public.
The Governor, after consultation, is taking appropriate legal steps to defend his cherished family name and background and will not succumb to any pre-planned attack on his personality from any quarter.
Based on the forgoing paragraphs above, we wish to declare that the publication lacks substance, coherence and should therefore be disregarded and treated as such.
We hope, however, that this rejoinder will equally be accorded the same prominence given to the earlier publication by the author and the publisher of the online publication.
