Massive protest in Ado -Ekiti as INEC Postpones elections in Oye -Ekiti till Sunday.

April 24, 2009

Image removed. In what my prove to be the decisive rigging factor on the gubernatorial re-runs in Ado-Ekiti, the Independent National  Elections Commission (INEC) has postponed elections in Oye-Ekiti, the  till Sunday on the flimsy excuse that "thugs scared away" voters from two wards in the city.

The commission has put the announcement of election results in abeyance pending the conclusion of the voting tomorrow. Opposition politicians in the Action Congress told Saharareporters that the move was a bizarre attempt to obfuscate what is clearly a "landslide victory" for their candidate, Kayode Fayemi of the Action Congress.

The AC has decided to march on Ado Ekiti the state capital to enforce their victory in what is likely to be a long and tense night in the troubled state. A source told Saharareporters that the "people's will" would force the Yar'adua rigging machine to honor the victory of the people of Ekiti state.

Earlier, police in Ekiti arrested Ekiti Senator, Ayo Arise with 75  violent thugs in Oye Ekiti  during Saturday's elections. There are reports of ballot stuffing, abductions and rigging across the state perpetrated by the ruling party in connivance with security agents.
