UPDATED:INEC announces election in five LGAs shelves further announcents till Sunday.

Updated: INEC announces election result in five local governments; shelves further announcement till Sunday (tomorrow) when elections are expected to be completed in two wards in Oye -Ekiti.

The first official results shows that Action Congress leads in Gbonyin Local Government area of Ekiti State. Elections results in 8 local governments announced so far, AC is leading in five; while the PDP leads in three local governments. There are conflicting reports regarding the status of electionresults from Ekiti's largest local government area, Ido-Osi, where opposition politicians have expressed concern that the ruling party, PDP, has perfected its rigging strategy.

Results of elections suspended as INEC awaits results from Ido-Osi in Ekiti where it was reported that a woman who joined to resist ballot stuffing was killed by the police. A deputy Inspector General of Police, John Ahmadu, tipped to become the new IG is overseeing the elections on behalf of the Nigerian police.
