Yar'adua May tacitly approve imposition of Day Curfew on Ekiti State.

May 4, 2009

The Nigerian presidency might have  approved that a a "day curfew" be imposed on the rest of Ekiti State today to ensure the ruling party's candidate, Segun oni is declared winner after today's election in the last two wards in Oye -Ekiti.

Saharareporters learns that the decision was taken overnight by the Yar'adua regime to facilitate rigging of the elections in Oye-Ekiti where 18,000 votes are at play in today's election.
Contrary to promises made in an elaborate statement issued by his spokesperson, Olusegun Adeniyi, over the weekend, Yar'adua drafted soldiers to Ekiti State from neighboring Ondo State before the elections. Over 10,000 anti-riot policemen are also on the ground to enforce the curfew that has so far met some resistance from the acting governor. Saharareporters sources said despite severe intimidation tactics and security cordon thrown around Ekiti State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Ayoka Adebayo, she has so far refused to accept controversial figures collated from Ido-Osi local government hence the new strategy by federal officials bent on imposing the PDP candidate.

Also, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returned a discredited official of the agency, Okey Ndeche to Ekiti last night. Mr. Ndeche would be assisted by an equally controversial INEC official Regina Omo -Agege.  Mr. Ndeche , whose identity was first revealed by Saharareporters last week, is currently facing police probe for receiving bribes on behalf of INEC staff in Ido-Osi local government area from a PDP operative, Olumide Yomi Ayorinde. Both officials could not be reached on their mobile numbers provided by an INEC source.
