The rerun election has at last been concluded in Ekiti State. It has been intriguing and is definitely a foretaste of what to expect in 2011. The PDP has once again deployed their might to 'capture' Ekiti. It is unfortunate they do not deploy such in the national interest when Nigeria seeks something in the international arena like in the Bakkassi issue. It is evident to any sane person and plain even to the blind or deaf that the PDP in collusion with INEC and security agencies RIGGED the election by declaring false results for Ido-Osi local government area. A cursory look or plot of the figures shows that the purported 15,939 of PDP for that area is inflated by at least 10,000. Surely somebody decided to inflate that station so that the PDP would win. It is not surprising since the results for that particular polling area was collated in a Police station contrary to the rules and without the REC's authorization, unsigned by party agents and initially rejected by Mrs Ayoka Adebayo. If she has stood her ground and announced valid results from the nine local governments initially, the AC would have been declared winner. However, they contrived a statemate and tense situation, so as to strategize on declaring PDP after the delay on Oye polls. One has to hand it to the PDP, they are master riggers, unabashed at it too. However, this fraud is so glaring that if allowed to stand will precipitate the death of this democracy, the millitary is watching.
I actually suspect that the whole shenanigan of 'resignation' was just to divert attention and delay the announcement of authentic results. Recall that this same woman conducted the April 2007 polls. She is, I think one of Obasanjo's numerous lon-standing-concubines as allegded by his wife Remi in her book launched a few months ago. OBJ merely used her to rattle Yar-Adua and his minions over their BOT feud. He was the one who initially imposed Oni who never won the PDP primaries in the first place. That Okiro and Dora bamboozed Mrs Adebayo, threatened her with jeopadizing 'national security' etc. is all part of the grand plan. What about the PDP 'kolanuts' for INEC officials causing rumpus when the bribe collector sat on it in accordance with his notorious reputation in the 'INEC family'? Or Senator Arise's 'boys and visitors' who go about weilding charms and machets? The 'bat hunters' arrested with stopisticted weapons and AK 47 rifles? Nigeria, we hail thee!
The judiciary shoud rise to the occasion this time around. All AC need do is go to the Tribunal, request for the cancellation of the illegal Ido-Osi results and demand that Fayemi be declared the winner. It is straight-forward and should not last more than 3 months to conclude totally. Yar Adua has been exposed to be insincere with his so called electoral reforms. He is no statesman despite Segun Adeniyi's lies to cover for him. This also serves a good lesson to the people to wait for the conclusion of a matter before 'heronizing' anyone, it was premature for CAN and others to praise Mrs Adebayo for she could not GO THE DISTANCE. Let us leave her with her God, conscience, and supposedly christian faith till she be called and cross-examined at the elections Tribunal. She must be called to personally testify and not merely represented by a lawyer, she was the tool of evil in the Ekiti imbroglio. The courts will equally have to determine Oni's tenure if his election is uphelp.
Electoral fraud is the greatest form of corruption, it ino wonder there ismassive looting everywhere from Electricity commision to UBE commision, etc. EFCC under Mrs Waziri and Andokaa can not bite,they only bark. So, we should expect things to get worse as we approach 2011.
