Radio/TV Broadcaster, Ladi Lawal, is Dead!

Image removed.Saharareporters just learned of the death of radio /TV broadcaster, Ladi Lawal, who was director of operations for African Independent Television (AIT).


Mr. Lawal became famous for his act of resistance to the regime of former military dictator, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. Mr. Lawal resigned from his job in Radio Nigeria to protest Babangida’s annulment of the June 12 1993 presidential election that produced Mr. M.K.O. Abiola as winner. That cancelled election was adjudged the freest in Nigeria's history.

Our source said Mr. Lawal died from apparent complications from high blood pressure. He suffered a stroke and was in a coma prior to his death. Our source said he was aged 54.
