ANPP review of GNU, medicine after death!

June 30, 2009

Whereas, we the floor members of All Nigeria Peoples Party {ANPP} rejoice with the move by Chief Edwin Umezeoke led executive of ANPP to review the so called Government of National Unity {GNU} with the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP}: however it is our considered view that the best review is the resignation of Chief Edwin Umezeoke and his executive forthwith.

We are making this demand based on the following premise:-

i} that the review is medicine after death, consequently Chief Edwin Umezeoke and his executive lacks the moral high ground to act as undertakers over a political party they killed. They cannot approbate and probate at the same time.

Ii} that the inordinate ambition and self interest of Chief Edwin Umezeoke and his executive, not the overall interest of members led them to this unholy agreement of enthronement of One Party State in Nigeria

Iii} that the ANPP lost woefully from this avoidable contraption, leading to decamping of Governors Mamuda Shinkafi of Zamfara, Isa Yuguda of Bauchi, legislators and host of members

IV} that the report of the Alhaji Bashir Tofa Committee clearly stated member’s outright rejection of the GNU and their call for the resignation of the Chief Umezeoke led executive; therefore they should vacate office now.

V} our nationwide survey shows that nothing short of immediate resignation of Chief Umezeoke and cohorts, can restore, redeem and reposition the party for future elections in Nigeria, accordingly we quote the position of Forum of ANPP Gubernatorial/Senatorial Candidates, ‘ the unfortunate leadership of Chief Edwin Umezeoke rather than support its candidates in their electioneering campaign and litigations has done a good job of frustrating them and facilitating their failures at the election tribunals. The case of  its Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, Gubernatorial candidates Barrister David Umaru in Niger State, Senators Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun State, Abiola Ajimobi in Oyo, Albashir in Yobe, Prince Abubakar Audu in Kogi, Barrister Solomon Ewuga in Nassarawa are cases in point.’

On this CHECK-LIST of grave misadventure, we solemnly resolve that:  Chief Edwin Umezeoke and his executive in the interest of the entire membership and supporters of the ANPP should resign forthwith.
