PDP and dealers in stolen goods

August 1, 2009

Dear Editor: At times I feel like being indifferent to the happenings in this country. Often we are treated to funny shows that portray that all we have in Nigerian politicians is crookedness. Anyone who buys stolen goods is as guilty as the person that sold it.

I am commenting on the spate of high profile cross-carpeting in Nigeria politics. I would not know if we are advancing our democracy or moving backwards. Earlier on, it was Zamfara governor, followed by the Bauchi governor and few days back it was the turn of Imo governor. There were also Senators, Federal and State Houses’ members and even Councilors. Ah ah; they are political rogues by selfishly crossing over to the ruling (PDP) party. The most painful are the Bauchi and Imo governors: Yuguda was in PDP, not found fit to fly PDP flag, crossed over and got elected on ANPP platform, later married the President’s daughter and then crossed over to the PDP that rejected him earlier; Ohakim was in PDP and like Yuguda, was not found worthy in PDP, adopted by and won on PPA’s platform, now crossed over to it (PDP) that rejected him. These are men with no good conscience.

It is a shame to both the governors and the PDP; PDP bought stolen goods.  And for the governors, let them search their good consciences, if they have that, and guilt would weigh them down. Voters really voted for Parties (remember River’s Omeha and Amaechi) and not those individuals and therefore Ohakim and his ilk are like thieves that sold stolen (mandate) goods. Nemesis surely would catch up with them.
