The purported "Boko Haram" press release

August 15, 2009

Sir: I have read the so called press release on proposed attack of some parts of this country by Boko Haram in some of our dailies.

I wonder if those dailies have northern Muslims among their editorial boards. If they do, two things would not have escaped their investigative intelligence that
that statement was mischievously released to cause hatred and chaos among people of Nigeria by someone other than the Boko Haram people..

The two things are: the use of the word 'Al Hakubarah' and the name of the author of the statement as 'Sanni'. The correct word as every Muslim know it is 'Allah Akbar' (God is Great) and northern Muslims do not use double n in their name of Sani.

Please let the press look for the culprits of that statement elsewhere but certainly it is not from a northern Muslim or even a Muslim of whatever region because of the use of the word 'Al Hakubarah' in place of Allah Akbar .Simply put, the author of that document wanted to use the press to cause chaos for some interior reasons and it seems he/she is winning because Vanguard and the Sun carried the same screaming headline that Boko Haram are going to strike these parts of the country.

Thank you.
