A Child born with Golden Spoon is growing up dangerously........(Nigeria)

September 30, 2009

It’s our national day, supposed celebration of our independence as nationhood in the league of Free states. On this day one would be happy to be a citizen of his or her country, wearing the national colours, displaying the flags, and showing of due patriotism.

I have had the chance to be in other nations coincidental with their national day celebration, what i saw in those nations were things i can only wish for in my home country. The show of national pride, total national dedication, selfless service, uncommon patriotism and commitment to their nations; only makes me wonder where we went wrong.

Nigeria is 49yrs today, many folks will use the opportunity to remember our heroes struggles, our founding fathers vision, our purpose and calling as a nation, The various governments at all levels will organise different forum, and workshop, while all the government houses including the local, states and federal government will host one champagne dinner and parties to celebrate this day, many political figures, both politically dead and political nuisance will issue press statements claiming to be prophets of Morden day better Nigeria.

On this day we will hear the ranting of the political leaders and possible calls for sober reflections, attitude change, to bring about the level of development needed or to realise the visions of our fathers. I question, how many of our leaders today believe in our founding fathers vision and dreams?

I am very disappointed to read the words of these current leaders we have, men and women who have no shame in their convictions, leaders that derives pleasure in the suffering of their poor masses, leaders who will have no problem sending their children to universities and secondary schools abroad, while make sure the schools back home are in comatose state.  Leaders who steal from their nation and deposited such in foreign lands for “safe keeping” Leaders who manipulate the systems back home to their personal gains and interest.

Nigeria is over flown with greedy men and women, whose blood stream is tinted with corruption colour, our nation is dead deep in corruption that everywhere you turn to, the picture of corruption is visible, how far can we take at 49yrs? A supposed nation blessed with a land filled with promises, a child born with a golden spoon, pampered with the best hands to help grow up, has today grown into a man whose heart and mind is wicked, evil, corrupt, and celebrated backwardness.

A country where nepotism, tribalism, favorism  godfatherism and the likes is accepted as the norm is a country not fit to be called an independent state.

When the rest of our remaining friends are wishing us Happy National day, i will be patriotic enough to say Nigerian get your acts together.

May Nigerians heal their Land
May God Bless Nigeria
