October 1 and the future leaders

September 30, 2009
Oct. 1 should be a call for a sober reflection for all nigerians, a call prayers & fasting, a wake up call, a call for action! because there is nothing to celebrate in our 49 years of nationhood, instead we're witnessing a continuous fall from "greatness", we are continually falling out of reckoning from the commity of nationsas examplified by absence in recent years from the gathering of world leaders. There is surely nothing to celebrate, our future leaders are out of school for months, yet our leaders jet to other countries to commission the opening of new universities for the future leaders of those countries, what an irony! Nigeria is the 7th largest producer of oil, yet we import petrol and diesel, please someone tell me what to celebrate about? is it the starvation and homelessness of 90 % nigerians? is it the absence of affordable health or absence of basic infrastructure? please someone answers me? is it insecurity of injustice? I'll celebrate if someone can single out a sector that's working, just one! it is not well with nigeria: this isn't just an issue of pessimism or unpatriotism, it's the bare truth that we must accept so that we can act. Nigerian students, home and in diaspora, know that ur future has been mortgage, expect maybe for those whose parents are responsible for our predicaments. It's time to act and the time is now! we are responsible for our destiny, at lest our leaders have stated "point blank" that it is the case. aluta continua!
