I sincerely don’t understand peoples criticism of this story, this is indeed journalism at it best; my only problem however is that there was no investigation by Sahara writers before going to press, i.e. did they call the psychiatric hospital or attempt to enquire from some members of Yar Adua’s family to authenticate the story.
Indeed, in “developed countries” particularly the United Kingdom, there is freedom of speech and expressions, hence, not even the queen, Elizabeth 11 nor the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown is spared. An aggrieved person has an equal right to come clean or dispute the story, with proves, through press conferences or press rebuttal otherwise the story will be accepted as true. We should therefore learn to appreciate bold and dynamic journalism; specifically we should encourage constructive criticism of our leaders and every one in authority, as well as appreciate them when they do the right things, in a nutshell, there are no sacred cows.

In any case, this story should be investigated further; this tells us how little we know about our leaders present and past. We have the right to know don’t we?, apparently, we know so much of the past of other developed countries, at least we know so much of Obama, his father was a Kenyan immigrant, he used to smoke Marijuana, and guess what he is not ashamed of all these neither is he ashamed of his poor family members in Kenya nor his asylum seeking aunty, despite all these repugnant stories, we also know that he was a scholar, magna cum laude graduate from Harvard and without a doubt he is still the president of the most powerful country in the world.
Conclusively, if our president had a psychiatry problem, big deal! He could come clean about it and it might even earn him some sympathetic fans, we all remembered when Bill Clinton was accused of sexual assault by infamous Monica Lewinsky, he came clean and said he loved America more than he loved her and this actually earned him a lot of respect. We should therefore stop treating our leaders as semi-gods and goddess, they are not, actually they are humans, they can make mistakes, taken to court, found guilty, sent to prison and must wear prison uniform, that is it! They should get use to it, we should too.
