Shell Petroleum versus Akinluyi-Commentaries

November 15, 2009

Shell Petroleum once again did not show up in its gun running/contract case against some arms dealers., namely Humanitex and Chief Akinluyi .  After more than 15 years in Court, and several delays due to Shells tactics of delaying the expeditious hearing, Shell did not show up in Court; neither was any body sent to represent her.   Once again, the Management of SPDC are proving too big and important for our courts.  How then can one get justice or find one in a matter with Shell, in the land of one’s birth?  Is Shell bigger than Nigeria?-Mr. Bola Oyerinola, Lagos, November 10th, 2009.

Akinluyi's deal with Shell Petroleum never got to the stage of supply, Shell reneged on the deal, and Akinluyi found out that the Management of Shell  had other motives in applying for additional arms and ammunition in order to supply the two fighting ethnic factions, namely, the Ijaws and the Itsekiris, fighting then for God knows what.  For as long as there is unrest in the Niger Delta Oil region of Nigeria, Shell Petroleum can carry on with business as usual.
Mr. John Otomewor, Warri, Nigeria

Shell must explain to Nigerians and the world what she wanted such huge arms request for, at a time when Ken Saro Wiwa of blessed memory was under detention and before he was killed exjudiciously.  The hearing of the case will to my   mind expose in detail some hidden truth, no wonder that Shell is delaying the case from being heard.

KEN SARO WIWA IS KILLED – NOVEMBER 10TH, 1995
Shell Petroleum, the giant in Nigeria is in Court for Guns and Ammunition in the year 2009 November 3rd, my good God, we prayerfully await the hearing of this case, Shell’s involvement and link to Saro Wiwa’s exjudicial murder.  The World is watching in amazement.
Mr. Tokunbo Martins, Surulere, Lagos. November 10th, 2009

Ken Saro Wiwa’s execution was described as “Judicial murder” by the then British Prime Minister, John Major.  Yet Shell Petroleum the Anglo Dutch Oil Giant has been accused of delay tactics in its case with Arms dealers, by the judiciary  in Court for over 15 years.
Should an oil giant encourage its operations in a nation with varying standard?  Ken Saro Wiwa’s case and execution, quick, yet a mere case involving arms and ammunition with Shell has lasted over 15 years.
Haba! Shell Petroleum

SHELL VERSUS AKINLUYI IN NIGERIA
Can Shell deal in arms and ammunition as a Company in London or the Hague?  Can any other Country in the world tolerate the antics of Shell in Nigeria?  Shell for Oil, yes, Shell for arms and ammunition No.  The Management of Shell Nigeria should be called to order before things get out of hand for Nigeria again.
Mr. Emma Obasuyi, Benin City, Edo State, 0Nigeria

RE: MATTERS ARISING FORM OUR OIL FIELDS
I agree with the writer of this report regarding Shells behavior in your matter with them.
Shell in my view is exhibiting total disregard for fairness in their dealings with Nigerian nationals.
I have observed for many years now how shall, using its influence, and financial power to intimidate its way through many such litigations and disputes with less influential persons or enterprises all over Nigeria and perhaps other developing countries, where they may operate.

Your case is particularly sad and disturbing.  How can justice be served when you have to wait many yeas for a simple dispute to be resolved.
Shells disregard for the sensitivity is this matter clearly shows how very little it matters to them that news of the issues at stake continue to make the news for this many years.  This indicates what level of disrespect they hold for the country at large.
At a time when efforts are being made to reconcile the feelings and well being of a section of our father land.
The Niger Delta, I find it incredulous to continue to observe Shells antics in putting all their ill gained influence to delay and frustrate the Law Courts from settling this dispute.
Is there no body in the corridors of power to observe that the danger that continued play of this story could harm the current efforts at RECONCILIATION  IN THE Niger Delta?
I know for a fact that the issues raised by your matter played a major role in Shells capitulation during the celebrated CASE OF OGONI VRS Shell that played out in the USA recently.
Shells rush to settle out of court in far away USA clearly was born out of their knowledge that JUSTICE cannot be bought in the USA and that further revelations arising from your case would do them considerable damage.  “FEAR IN THE USA  but NO FEAR  in NIGERIA..?
It is high time that Shell be made to behave.

Note:
The CD of Shell atrocities in Nigeria is the way to you.
