Okey Ndibe to Speak at Awka Convention in Tampa, FL

Okey Ndibe, a novelist, academic and one of Nigeria’s most respected columnists, will give the keynote speech at the 2009 annual convention of Awka Union (USA & Canada). Image removed.


Ndibe’s speech, titled “The moral dimensions of Nigeria’s crisis,” will be delivered at the gala night on Saturday, November 28.

In addition, Professor Ndibe will moderate a panel discussion featuring numerous political personalities including several candidates running for the office of Governor of Anambra State in the February 6, 2010 gubernatorial election. Several of the candidates have confirmed their participation in the program which is scheduled to hold from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28. The convention will take place at Comfort Inn, 820 East Bush Boulevard in Tampa, Florida.

Ndibe, author of the novel Arrows of Rain, teaches fiction and African literature at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. His weekly columns appear on Tuesdays in The Sun (www.sunnewsonline.com), www.saharareporters.com and several other websites. He is co-editor of a book titled Writers, Writing on Conflicts and Wars in Africa.

Professor Ndibe is finishing work on a new novel titled foreign gods, incorporated.
