Lately, we have been inundated with news, rumors, innuendos and all that we thrive on in Nigeria about a planned return of the president to Nigeria from Saudi Arabia. Of course we all know the mischief and deviousness behind this hurried return of the man to Nigeria. His kitchen cabinet is still bent on subverting the Constitution; they are still hell bent on holding on to power. They are still determined to continue with the status quo where everything and all things are done on ad hoc basis.

Of course we have gone the full circle. He is no longer watching his favorite European soccer team on television, He is no longer asking after the well being of the Green Eagles, neither is he asking for Fura de nunu his favorite dish. He went on to speak to the BBC, really? He supposedly signed the budget, yeah right, and then he spoke with the three top officials in Nigeria, ( na lie). Now, his family and his kitchen cabinet want to return him to Nigeria on life support machine and keep all prying eyes out of the state house in Abuja while still practicing 419 in his name. He will be the first president in the history of the world who will be the bogeyman. You may feel him but not see him. Only in Nigeria.
How on earth will a man on life support machine be able to do anything? In all fairness to this man, he never did any of those things attributed to him. He never signed any budget, he did not speak with BBC and we intend to institute a legal action against BBC for this fraud. We want those participants in the fraud to be relieved of their jobs and for BBC to tender a public apology to Nigerians for the insult and for violating our constitution. The man on a life support machine cannot do anything but wait for a recovery or death. It takes only 6 minutes for a man to suffer irreversible brain damage in the event of hypoxia.

Life support means a patient is kept alive by medications or and equipments. In that instance, the patient either has a single or multiple organ failure. He/she would die without assistance. Most of the time, the organs that are in failure relate to respiratory, cardiovascular, the G.I system, or renal system. As it is now, our president has 3 of these present in him. He is a dialysis patient, he has autoimmune disease, and he was in cardiac arrest before he was airvaced to Saudi Arabia in a hurry. It is also possible for the brain to fail or even the central nervous system to be compromised to necessitate a life support system.
When a patient is in respiratory failure, he will need a ventilator to breathe as we have heard about our president. His long and extended stay in the ICU portends a lot of danger. That means his acuity and neuro status is very poor hence his life support status. In that case, his family may not realize that the man is in a vegetative state, and that he is not the one having spontaneous respiration. The rise and fall of the chest these people are seeing is not the man breathing, rather it is the ventilator forcing oxygen into him and so without it he will EXPIRE IN A SHORT TIME. Turn off the machine and the man will die within a few hours.
He is susceptible to infection, because even the endo tracheal tube in him and connected to the ventilator can only last for so long. His case can be compared to that of Mr. Ariel Sharon of Israel who suffered a brain attack and has since been on life support machine. The difference is that his country and family did the right thing. They had a smooth transition and Israel has gone on to prosper. In the case of Nigeria, because we are held captive by a thieving cabal. Power still resides in the hands of a man who is technically dead.

President yardua has too many ailments to contend with to allow him govern a vibrant nation like Nigeria. If he is on a life support machine that means among other things he will have a LEFT VENTRICULAR DEVICE in view of his cardiovascular problems. He is on dialysis for his renal failure; He is likely depending on parental nutrition for feeding either through a G. I. Tube or through a central line. With ALL THESE MACHINES HOOKED UP TO HIM IS IT NOT CLEAR TO ANY DISCERNING PERSON THAT THIS MAN IS DEAD AND ALIVE? IS THAT THE MAN EXPECTED TO NEGOTIATE OUR REMOVAL FROM THE AXIS OF TERROR? IS THAT THE MAN WHO WILL SPEAK WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA? AND IS THAT THE MAN WHO WILL SUPERINTEND THE 20/20 VISION. Look, let us be honest, the PDP lack 20.20 visions. It is a party with notorious allergy to introspection. If the fish rots, it starts from the head.

They are a party of vagabonds who fear neither man nor God. There are rumors that the even the Saudi government is cooperating with the Yar'dua family to frustrate the people of Nigeria by not granting visas to those delegated to go and see the man in Saudi Arabia while Turai and his family conclude arrangements to bring him back to Nigeria. That is why the National Assembly members have not been able to travel on their assignments. I see they are either too dumb or too greedy to see through the ruse.
This man may be returned to Nigeria and hidden away in Aso rock. No one will see him, He will be hooked to several machines, he will remain in vegetative state while his signature will continue to be forged by his kitchen cabinet and the looting will go on till 2011. It is on good authority that the family has acquired an ambulance FORD E-250 WITH ICU EQUIPMENTS. The ambulance landed in Nigeria, MMA on Jan 20, and reached Abuja on Jan. 23 instant. All what is left now is for the near vegetative president to be airvaced to Nigeria. The man is out to lunch. He does not know where he is, or what day of the week we are in, but Turai and his children in conjunction with some inner circle members keep up the charade. The Saudi doctors reportedly gave his family the AMA FORM (AGAINST MEDICAL ADVISE) form to absolve themselves of any blame in future.
Now, the issue becomes why these people have this sense of entitlement. Why do they feel Dr. Jonathan cannot and should not even become the acting president of Nigeria? Once again, it is not about Jonathan as an individual, it is for the collective good of all and for upholding the constitution. If we go on like this and set this bad precedent, it will come back to hunt us in a few years. It is the ghost of Babangida and Abacha and their misrule that gave birth to this monster. If we do not curtail this madness now, it will give rise to worse Frankenstein and we will all be worse off for it.
If this woman called Turai know in her heart that it is good to have excellent medical services, why did she not made the attempt to even equip one single hospital since she became the first lady, even in her native Katina state? Why has she not encouraged her husband to give opportunities to our doctors to go for advanced training, why run to Germany and Saudi Arabia every time for care? Why not spend money for hospitals in Nigeria, a nation where 144 women die in childbirth daily (WHO) report. Now the shoe fits on the other leg and she is running scared.
Besides, the money being spread around to bribe people to subvert the constitution is enough to build primary health care centers in many states. However, since the leadership in Nigeria does not see or regard the masses, they do what they like, they carry on as they wish because they do not have to account for their misdeeds. Who is responsible for monies paid to marabouts to bring back the man mysteriously/ who is paying for all those indolent people who call themselves prayer warriors? Praying on false hood? Am afraid God will not hear such prayers.
I feel sorry for these people and am happy for Nigerians in the same breath. Feel sorry for them because they are whipping a dead horse. Happy for Nigeria that there is an increasing crack in the PDP. Read Olusegun Obasnjo who is the master of revisionist history. Others like the governor of Niger state are reported to have openly called for the invocation of the Constitution and enthronement of Jonathan. In the next weeks, we will see more defection from the ranks of Turai and co and the ground will open and swallow them up.
