Turai and Tanimu funds Northern group to fan ethnic embers over Yar'Adua

February 22, 2010
Turai Yar'Adua and Tanimu Yakubu, her husband's Chief Economic Adviser,   and the FCT minister, Adamu Aliero have invested in a Northern group known as Northern Elders Forum with the hope of causing further disaffection between Northerners and Southerners over Yar'Adua's health condition.

The group, led by a Abacha minister, Bashir Dalhatu, a first republic minister, Alhaji Inuwa Wada,  former deputy senate president, Ibrahim Mantu, Tanko Yakassai and a horde of conservative politicians from the North, is billed to hold a public meeting tomorrow at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, is expected to make an anti-South proclamation to the effect that Jonathan Goodluck cannot be the substantive President regardless of the finding of the six-man delegation currently visiting Jeddah to see Yar'Adua.

The group is embarking on the latest effort to sabotage Jonathan's **Acting President status, as it has so far failed to coax the military to take over power from Jonathan.

Saharareporters sources said that prior to, and since Jonathan was given the current status by the National Assembly, both Turai and Tanimu already approached the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen AB Dambazau, on three occasions to ask him to take over power, but Dambazau a PhD holder, reportedly rebuffed their request and instead placed some officers said to be located in Jos, Plateau State under strict surveillance.

However, Tanimu and Turai are said to be "hopeful' that with renewed and continuous whipping of an alleged "anti-North" rhetoric as well as sundry legal challenges, their military wing would strike soonest.
