Jonathan meets with Ministers, will "meet with Turai" today

The much-awaited Federal Executive Council briefing took place today at the conference room of **Acting President Goodluck Jonathan and it lasted only 10 minutes. The regular Wednesday meeting had been aborted earlier by Jonathan, who said he would brief the Ministers thereafter.

At the briefing,  Jonathan told the Ministers he had been informed by Yar'Adua's aides that the ailing leader did return to Abuja in the early hours of this morning.  This information, which was passed on to the media after the briefing by the Minister of Information, Dr. Dora Akunyili, confirms that Jonathan had been kept in the dark about Yar'Adua's return.

She further told the press that Jonathan was billed to meet with Mrs. Turai Yar'Adua later today. The meeting with Yar'Adua's wife and the reports from a delegation that recently visited the Riyadh

Mrs. Akunyili's statement also confirms that Jonathan has not been able to set eyes on Yar'Adua.  The press statement from the presidency earlier today consistently referred to Jonathan as Vice-President, not "Acting."
