Sack Iwu now!-CNPP

March 15, 2010

CNPP calls on the Acting President to sack Professor Maurice Iwu now; for each time we hear his voice, we loose confidence in the 2011 elections; for nobody wants 2011 elections to be dead on arrival, as we are reminded of Iwu as Peoples Democratic Party {PDP}’s axe-man, partial umpire and partisan.

Image removed.CNPP calls on the Acting President to sack Professor Maurice Iwu now; for each time we hear his voice, we loose confidence in the 2011 elections; for nobody wants 2011 elections to be dead on arrival, as we are reminded of Iwu as Peoples Democratic Party {PDP}’s axe-man, partial umpire and partisan.
The paradox of the PDP is their incurable phobia for free and fair elections; otherwise no responsible party could have still retained Iwu after his gross misconduct that marred 2007 elections. The refusal of PDP leadership to implement Uwais Electoral Reform Report; is a strong indication that they do not want to deepen our democracy.

We therefore view Professor Iwu election dates of January and April 2011 as complete subversion in league with PDP leadership, of the core recommendation of Uwais Report; which states clearly that election should take place 6 months before the swearing of winners to enable post electoral disputes to be adjudicated before winners are sworn-in. We are at a loss that people are happy that post-electoral disputes are still going 3 years into a regime.

Accordingly, CNPP once more calls on the Acting President to sack Iwu and as a matter urgent national importance to present the three Bills contained in the Uwais Report and mobilze the National Assembly to pass into law; to avoid the 2011 elections being marred by violence of Do-or-Die politicians.

Sack Iwu now!

Osita Okechukwu
National Publicity Secretary
