Jonathan was responding to a question about the credibility of persons that ran Nigeria's past elections. The Acting President stated that Maurice Iwu's tenure and those of other commissioners of INEC would expire on June 30 2010.

Referring to the clamor for the removal of Mr. Iwu, Jonathan said that he will not hesitate in doing the right thing to ensure that INEC is able to conduct credible elections in 2011. US officials have openly demanded the removal of Mr. Iwu from INEC, and Jonathan has consistently assured the US leadership that part of his electoral reform plans include the removal of Mr. Iwu following his role in the botched elections of 2007.
