Re: Buhari, Atiku, Go and Rest

April 27, 2010

Mismatching Buhari in that crowd of ace corrupters and corruptees of Nigeria is like equaling the South African Godhead Nelson Mandel to Adolf Hitler the Nazi God symbol. Nice write-up, but Oniawo, is it so hard to make apartness between good and evil leader? If you adjudge Buhari as becoming a guttersnipe in the corridors of power and beyond – then, tell me which Nigerian former or extant president in your reckoning is your genuine McCoy?

It´s scary and one of political heresy gossiping the ex-general along the line of the bad guy phenomenon. If the Buhari that we all know who has moved and shook himself away from corruption and sleaze could be said to be of nuisance value: I´m afraid that all Nigerians have sinned and come short not of the glory of God but of Modesty and good behavior.. Yes, we´ve had bad luck of shenanigan presidents moreover, Buhari is different. Give Buhari a hug and pat him on the back anywhere you see him for not have enriched himself corruptly like the rest.

You misfired lumping Buhari amidst misbegotten Nigerian presidents. Buhari is wavelengths apart from the grandees, Sodomite whores of past Nigerian leaders. Buhari is incorruptibly the only onetime Nigerian president living a modest life. Buhari is making ends meet eking out living via his monthly pension that´s less than a hundred thousand per month. Obasanjo, Babagida and co. are living heavy in castles like Mafia bosses with all the expensive playthings to match. How could it have been possible in real life of First-Word democracies for Obasanjo who was a penny-pinching bankrupted chicken farmer with twenty-thousand Naira only home and abroad in 1999, to become a well-money man after eight years of racing Nigerian to the bottom as a ruler? Only in Nigeria! Ibrahim Babaginda who was a government worker with no record of private entrepreneurship flies about with private jet as if he has the same manifest destiny with pastor Adeboye of Redeem Church. I´m not yet aware that the once British Prime Minister Tony Blaire is a millionaire or dallies about with private jet of his own. Buhari is there going about sponsored government vehicle which president Yar´adua withdrew from him when they had palaver. Still Onaiwu has the misjudgment to mix and mingle this good ex-general with his corrupt peers. Jesus wept for your miscalculation!

It´s corruption committed in high places of presidency, Senate, Governor´s Forum &co.&co that made Nigeria famous as well as a loser. I disagree with the Acting president Jonathan Goodluck when he once opined that that the corruption stifling Nigeria is bottom-up rather than top/down.  For Nigeria to apace forward, we need leaders suchlike Buhari himself who abhors corruption and has no dirty character. Buhari is a can-do of presidential material that I sincerely think can root out or at least kill or capture corruption in Nigeria. He´ll put players in the Siemens, Halliburton and other sky-high corruptions to jail with forfeiting their loots. They day Buhari assumes presidency, such as OBJ and IBB would have no option than to hide in hole like Saddam Hussein or emigrate to Madagascar a country where Adolf Hitler chose to deport his society´s misfit.

There´s this sterling quality of Buhari not socializing with IBB, OBJ, AtikU and cohorts. This is enough example to show that he´s identifying with the poverty-ridden masses. How often have you seen him visit, associate with them or crew alongside the cabals? He has the permanent visa to member that wayward PDP clique people, make handsome, and yet corrupt living but he has kept arm´s length away from sleaze merchant of the underworld in Nigeria. Tell me why I´d not fall in love with Buhari and identify him as the masses foxhole buddy and comrades-in-arms? He´s not one of them eh!! Not at all! I was in Nigeria lately for three months, I realise that it´s not easy to keep your cool in the face of manifold temptation beckoning you back and front. If most of us have such power that Buhari has and have been able to tame so far, we´d overthrown God. It takes a lot of discipline for Buhari not to choose the roughneck do or die alternative that his peers have chosen. Hail him for me, please!

Buhari has a modestly steady family and household that doesn´t chase, hug headlines or fish public compliment. Unlike OBJ a bad attraction, who bedded his son´s wife plus his dysfunctional family, IBB whose children are addicted to airplane and big life, Turai Yar´Adua whose activity has put a deep dent in the First Lady´s unofficial office and career in Nigeria. This makes another case for us to have Buhari in Aso Rock come 2011: his family has a discipline and well-measured manners that his First Lady wife would be a blessing to Aso Rock. Jonathan Goodluck´s wife is just waiting for her VP husband to be confirmed president before she unleashed her bad girl image. Her conduct as Bayelsa ‘First Lady’ is an open book of wrongdoings.

I congratulate Onaiwu for accepting that Buhari is Spartan and didn´t mess with our money during his governorship of Nigeria. He paid up our debts and shied away from World Bank that now epitomises the economic ‘hit man’ and Jackass of the 21st century. Going after Umaru Dikko his Northern compatriot shows that he´s not the tribalist you painted in your word-view.

Go! Tell on the mountain that Buhari stands out for good, from the IBB, OBJ and PDP close-knitted family of corruption.  I´ll personally buy my ticket home to vote for the first time in my life, for Buhari in 2011. Buhari has the fineness of manner to quench sleaze in Nigeria and jail corruption heavies. What else do Naiwu and company want?

Rotational presidency has no business in a democracy in whatever form. He who the presidential cap fits should wear it. Jonathan Goodluck would be so thrilled by this your article: it gives him the soothing leeway to contest under their rotational presidency silly nonsense even a Southern man. I wonder why no one has accused you of doing masterpiece or penning this article for Jonathan Goodluck.

Good luck to you, and those in your crowd psychology who want to believe that Jonathan might do well and earn a second term. You´ve to exile OBJ, Governor´s Forum occupants and suchlike for Jonathan to have the breathing space to thrive. For me, I remain skeptical if not cynical judging by Jonathan´s past tendencies of poodle life. He has always gone alone with the Joneses. He should prove me wrong and earn my respect as Buhari has. It wasn´t for nothing that Dora Akuyili of Information Ministry linchpin visited Buhari lately.
