Jonathan To Travel With 200 People To G8 Summit In Canada

June 13, 2010
When Nigeria president, Goodluck Jonathan, leaves for the G8 summit in Canada next week, which Nigeria is attending as an observer, he will be accompanied by a bewildering crowd of about 200 people.
Nigerian presidency sources have confirmed that the Jonathan government has already requested  visas for the first batch of 150 people.  In addition to that number, the sources in Abuja have told Saharareporters that as many as 50 additional names will still be forwarded to the embassy for visas.

These unprecedented numbers mean that Nigeria's delegation to the event, which is taking place in Muskoka, Canada, will surpass those of the six other African countries combined.  Nigeria will also set a scandalous record as the largest observer delegation in G8 history.

The G8 leaders invited seven African countries: Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa, to attend a special session at the summit as observers.

Jonathan is fresh off a trip to South Africa where, in another huge waste of public resources, 64 Nigerian senators, State Governors and a large entourage accompanied him to watch a World Cup soccer match in South Africa.

Saharareporters has also learnt that yet another huge delegation will follow Jonathan to the UK when he travels there on a similar junket
