Is Goodluck Jonathan Anti Igbo? By Jideofor

July 30, 2010

Irrespective of the political debate on maintaining zoning arrangement in PDP, there is one feeling spreading around the South East and some part of South South political zones. That feeling is the anti-Igbo conduct of President Goodluck Jonathan.
It is often said that "name says it all", but in this case, I am not too sure if that is right. I am referring to the middle names of the president, Azikiwe Ngozi. These names are Igbo, but I do not want to bother myself on how he came about these names.

So, coming to my question, Is Goodluck Jonathan anti-Igbo or politically naive? My inner thinking is that he is not naive but short and simple, ANTI-IGBO. He may be just months in office to properly judge him, but the first cut is always the deepest.

To support my claim are the following points;

Since he came in as president, the Igbos who were dropped from there positions in government were never replaced by another Igbo man either from South-East or South-South.

That no Igbo man or woman has a class A ministerial appointment in his cabinet although there are more than 6 such ministerial positions and we have only six geographical zones.

They say a man is judged by the friends he keep. Today, Danjuma heads the special presidential advisory board. Students of international conflicts will tell you that were it to be a developed country, Danjuma will still be in jail because of the genocide he committed against innocent Igbos during the civil war. His hatred against Ndi Igbo knows no boundary.

His fellow Ijaw man, Chief Edwin Clark is known to suffer from Igbophobia. His greatest wish is to see the total annihilation of Ndi Igbo and will spare no time to voice his feeling. Remember his comments during the last PDP presidential nomination on Odili and also on M.T Mbu regarding South-East and South-South association which he Mbu heads. Although Mbu is not an Igbo, but he was given the nod to head the organisation by all the South-East and some South-South governors. My question is how come the President should organize a state party for Clark knowing his stand among the Igbos. Not just only Igbos are asking the question but other tribes in the South-South except the Ijaws. Clark is a known tribalist that finds joy in dominating other South South minority tribes. So, why organize a party for a tribalist in the name of a nationalist and bridge builder?

We need not to forget that the anti-Igbo stand of Obasanjo fuelled the formation of MASSOB. Such a stand by Jonathan may see something more than MASSOB.

May be I am wrong or the opinion poll conducted in both South-South/South-East was not representative enough but the tendency is growing.
