Until his retirement earlier today, Yusuf Tilde was the chief security officer of the late mallam who died in May 2010 of complications arising from Churg Strauss Syndrome, an autoimmune disease.

Mr. Tilde was credited with skillfully maneuvering to keep Yar'adua's medical condition a secret up until his final return to Nigeria via air ambulance in February.

Once Yar'adua was safely smuggled into Nigeria in the dead of night, Tilde and Yar'adua's aide de camp took over the council chambers thereby preventing Goodluck Jonathan from presiding over the federal executive council meeting.

Subsequently, Mr. Tilde, in cahoots with Yar'adua's wife-Hajia Turai, began a series of weekly  propaganda broadcasts announcing that Yar'adua was resuming work. Saharareporters debunked the lies as fast as they spread them.

One of the final gestures of misinformation organized by Tilde involved the invitation of Muslim clerics to visit the Villa. The clerics claimed that they saw Yar'adua and that he prayed with them and shook hands with them. Later, top Christian clerics were invited for a state visit with the ailing chief but they could not agree amongst themselves on how to tell a perfect lie. Most of the delegation members have kept silent till this day.
