The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has been drawn to a report on your website entitled "Farida Turns On Jonathan, Tells US Officials The President Is Interferring With Anti-Corruption Efforts".
Without mincing words, and to save your army of readers the agony of misinformation, there is the need to point out that there is no iota of truth in the entire report as it is merely an embodiment of imaginations and falsehood.
As against your earlier reports that the EFCC chairman, Mrs Farida Waziri has lost the support of the US government and has even been barred from entering the US, Mrs Waziri was indeed invited to a meeting with some officials of the Department of Justice and Undersecretary, Maria Otero on August 16 and 17 respectively.
You may also wish to know that the five sessions of the meetings for the two days were attended by some officials of the Nigerian embassy in Washington including the Nigerian Ambassador, Prof Adefuye. At what point then would you say that Mrs Waziri told US officials that President Goodluck Jonathan was interferring in the nation's anti-corruption efforts? During the meetings or after? As earlier stated, all the meetings were attended by top Nigerian embassy officials, a scenerio which makes your claim impossible. After the meetings? Mrs Waziri left the venue of the last meeting on Tuesday August 17th, 2010 to the airport to return to Nigeria.
Again, that makes your claim more like a fiery tale than a news report that should possess a major principle in journalism, that is the truth.
Drawing from the above, there is no gain repeating the fact that all other allegations against President Jonathan, Mrs Waziri and other top officials of government mentioned in your report were simply manufactured to create disaffection and mistrust in government.
We will therefore like to emphasize as has often been stated by the EFCC chairman that the Commission is not under any pressure or interference from the presidency or any other quraters. That is the truth.
