Ehikioya, a leader of the National Union of Air transport Employees (NUATE)had led a union group to the airport to enforce the stop-work-order earlier today when the incident happened during a scuffle.

Justice Dongban-Mensan was about to board a flight to Lagos after delivering the judgement that unseated Uduaghan, when the labour leaders arrived and tried to stop the aircraft from boarding passengers.

Sources at the airport told Saharareporters that a panicky Justice Dongban-Mensan, fearing that the mob that had gathered may have been sponsored by the Delta State government , called upon her orderly to protect her.

In the ensuing scuffle, the orderly fired his weapon into the air to scare the labor leaders away.

It is not clear how the bullet hit the labour leader in the hand.  He was immediately rushed to the hospital while Justice Dongban-Mensan returned to Benin City to await the end of the strike.

A source at the NLC told Saharareporters that the injury to Comrade Ehikioya is not life threatening.
The Congress has since called off their strike.
