The 2010 Brown University Achebe African Colloquium focuses attention on three important African nations: RWANDA, CONGO and NIGERIA and the crucial issues that are impacting these nations, the continent and the world.

The goal of the Achebe Colloquium is to bring together world class intellectuals as well as officials from African governments, civil society, the United Nations, the U.S. government, the European Union, members of international human rights organizations, elections monitoring groups, and research and policy institutions; to deliberate on the importance of strengthening democracy on the African continent.
This year, Professor Achebe would like to turn his attention to several hot
spots on the African continent: Rwanda and the hope of its emerging success
following the harrowing genocide; the crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo/Republic of Congo and the protracted war in the region; and finally Nigeria: its battle with corruption, the Niger Delta crisis and its forth coming presidential elections.
