Questions! Questions!  How can President Goodluck Jonathan account for the hurried sharing of $1billion to the three tiers of government on the 31 December 2010? Of what urgent purpose was the $1billion meant for? Is it for politicking? Is it New Year Bonus? Why was this meeting on the eve of the New Year of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, convened secretly as an emergency meeting?

According to the Minister of State for Finance and Chairperson of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee, Hajia Yabawa Wabi, ‘in this regard, the Federal Government got $458.3million, the states will share $232million and the local government will share $179million and the derivation states will share $130million.’

We are alarmed because all indices point to less than altruistic disbursement; therefore it is highly regrettable to finger President Goodluck Jonathan whose government is cap in hand on borrowing binge, to covertly disburse the Excess Crude Account for political gains.
