At 11 am in most of the areas in Eket, Southern Akwa Ibom accreditations were yet to commence while the exercise was in progress in few areas.

The accreditation was followed by distribution of sensitive election materials at the Office of Independent National Elections Commission (INEC) in Eket Local Government Area contrary to the promises made by the commission that it had overcome the logistics hiccups.

As early as 8am prospective voters had turned up for the accreditation exercised scheduled to be conducted between 8am and 12.00pm.

In all areas visited in Eket the accreditation exercise was delayed for at least two hours by the late arrival of materials but voters waited patiently for INEC officials and security agents to arrive.

At the Qua Iboe Church primary school, Eket the voters were enthusiastic and expressed optimism that the elections would be successful.

ACN Chairman in Akwa Ibom Mr. Aniekan Akpan told SaharaReporters that the delays in distribution of materials was uncalled for and urged INEC to expedite action and give Nigerians a credible elections.

He reiterated the readiness of Action Congress to peaceful conduct of the general elections.

He said that the party was consulted in the postponement of the Uyo Senate elections.
