Yorubas Reject PDP, Obasanjo Shame On You!

It is no longer news that obasanjo’s so-called party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, suffered tremendous and devastating loses among the Yoruba of the South-West of Nigeria in the last election due to the onslaught launched by the opposition party, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, from its Lagos base. They love to call it the Broom Revolution that has swept away the political garbage that had littered the landscape.

The party of obasanjo has now gone from having total control of five states in 2003 to having nothing to show for all the money, muscle and mania in its arsenal in Yorubaland. Having earlier lost Ekiti, Ondo and Osun following tribunal verdicts from 2009/2010, it now has had Oyo and Ogun snatched by the rampaging ACN led by Ashiwaju Tinubu and Super Governor Fashola.

In the National Assembly election held on 9 April 2011, the “Baba-ric” party won only five seats out of the 71 available in the South-west, while of the 18 Senate seats, the party won only one.  This figure contrasts sharply with that of the 2007 “Iwu-ru-wuru elections” when PDP claimed to have won 47 House of Representatives seats and 15 in the Senate.

When the Gubernatorial Election of 21 April 2007 in EKITI State which was very predictably won by Dr Kayode FAYEMI the formidable candidate of the Action Congress party was brazenly stolen and fraudulently given to the PDP man, Mr Segun Oni, I said to the world that the then president of Nigeria, Mr Segun Obasanjo had rigged an election too many. It has been their tradition since 2003 anyway.

How can any reasonable man rig Fayemi’s election and deny him of his deserved mandate? What with the array of formidable backers he had. One, there was Professor Wole Soyinka, yes the KONGI himself, with all his global reach.  Then there was George Soros, one of the richest men on earth with his zeal to remake the world from his base in New York. Furthermore, there was Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the great obsanjo-tamer of Nigeria. Add to the list the great indomitable Ekiti Parapo. What!

Then look at Osun’s Ogbeni Rauf AREGBESOLA gubernatorial saga as well. The PDP riggers nearly got away with their criminal politics from 29 May 2007 until very late in the four year term when on 26 November 2010, the Court of Appeal, based on what may be termed an act of “judicial activism”, not merely kicked out the wicked usurpers from the Government House, but more graciously prevented a certain bloodbath that was only waiting to happen at the pending April 2011 gubernatorial elections due to the glaring desperation of an obasanjo and Ooni anointed PDP “Governor-in –Waiting”. Who is that one!

Now, I remember when I was closing the last chapter in the LADOJA “impeachement” SAGA of Oyo State, titled: TRIUMPH of RULE of LAW, I titled my postscript thus: LADOJA RETURNS TO POWER, OBSANJO SHAME ON YOU!!!. That was in 2007 and then we were compelled as we finished off the FAYEMI Gubernatorial SAGA, which can be aptly titled: TRIUMPH of POWER of TRUTH, with a similar Obasanjo rebuke.

I know very many readers out there will be wondering what kind of stupid obsanjo-hater this writer is. I blame Obasanjo for most evil events in Nigeria from 1999 to date. Even if your haberdasher sews your garment a little short of the measurement as had been alluded to by a blogger friend years ago, we shall still blame Obasanjo for the shortcoming. Yes, it was Obasanjo we had totally expected to lay a sound, solid, sustainable foundation for a better Nigeria, in all its ramifications: fiscal, social, political, educational, constitutional, infrastructural…….Rather the man had more than adequate 8 long years and still only left the country much poorer politically, socially, educationally, constitutionally, infrastructurally ….. And so, the sordid Ladoja Saga and Fayemi Saga are the outcome of some of the many khakistocratic Obasanjo’s barbaric acts of commission and omission, beginning in December 2001 with the late Chief Bola Ige’s most gruesome assassination and the unwholesome prosecution of the well known killers.

To all the good people and the progressive forces that helped to debunk obasanjo and destroy his PDP in the South West, its kudos! Kudos!! Kudos!!!

And, to all the evil men and women in the drama, its shame! Shame!! Shame!!! Let us begin to shame them one by one, this way we shall try and hope to conscientise them:

obasanjo, the president of the school of do or die electoral riggers, SHAME on you! Shame! Shame!! Shame !!!

The 2011 Elections
And, now come the 2011 general elections, with a new INEC led by Prof. Attahiru Jega, operating under a new Electoral Laws (2010), the stolen mandates by obasanjo’s political boys and girls have been recovered by the real Yoruba political leaders from the AWO school of progressive politics. All the rigging systems obasanjo and his foot soldiers and their garrison commanders had used in 2003 and 2007 have failed the Jega test at the polls this time. The Yoruba have disowned obasanjo and his clan of the Ekiti Re-Run Saga antagonists named and shamed earlier.

Rather than wisely set up proper political structures with enduring values during his 8 years in power, obsanjo merely used puerile martial means reminiscent of SunTzu’s Art of War and blindly operating Machiavelli’s power principle of “the end justifies the means”. His political legacy has not even lasted 12 years, compared with Papa Awo’s 60 years. Even Shehu Musa Yar Adua’s  political structure, the Peoples Democratic Movement,  is still intact 16 years after his death. What a SHAME!

All of obasanjo’s natural and political children have been shown the red card by the electorate because they had not served the people but themselves and their godfather called OBJ and thugfathers and mothers. They stupidly kept thinking that selling the mainstream dummy to the discernible Yoruba people would win them votes. Yet obasanjo and his party in Yorubaland will continue to deceive themselves that PDP will rebound soon, when indeed all the remaining vestiges of the hated party are about to be cleaned out at the next election.

Let us name and shame the losers one by one:

Iyabo deservedly and ignominiously lost her senatorial post...obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Tunji Olurin innocently lost his gubernatorial election ...obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Akala deservedly and ignominiously lost his gubernatorial seat....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Omisore deservedly and ignominiously lost his senatorial post....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Adedibu deservedly and ignominiously lost his senatorial post....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Oyinlola deservedly and ignominiously lost his senatorial race....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Adeleke deservedly and ignominiously lost his senatorial post....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Ayo Arise deservedly and ignominiously lost his senatorial post....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Fayose deservedly and ignominiously lost his senatorial race....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Agagu deservedly and ignominiously lost his senatorial race....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Akinjide-Osinowo deservedly and ignominiously lost her senatorial race....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

Bankole deservedly and ignominiously lost his House of Representative post....obasanjo, SHAME on you!!!

All these electoral loses glaringly point to obasanjo’s lack of political stature among the Yoruba across the South Western states of Nigeria, ab initio. From 1999, obasanjo has always been a political nonentity. All general elections held, in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011, have proved obasanjo has no electoral value other than being a useless liability to any party. But because PDP as a “party” is not based on real democratic framework, they continued to hail him as their “political father”, they even call him “father of modern Nigeria”. Ah! Whatever political gains the party had “made” in the South West had been hitherto wantonly stolen, both in the 2003 and in the 2007 bogus elections. When we have, had real elections, both in 1999 and 2011, obasanjo and his gang could not make any political gains. Even this last election was to have been rigged but for the resistance and vigilance of the determined electorate.  Lets thank Jega for this one.

We have finally come to the very end of the odious, ignominious and infamous obasanjo political era in the South West, after 12 years. It is farewell to criminal politics by the band of “JANDUKUDIGBOLUGI”, the president, governors, senators, representatives and honourables of the Molete School of Political Thuggery and Electoral Brigandage. Thank goodness, the school’s headmaster, one Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu, (does anybody still remember him?), had been crookedly bent by the Grim Reaper in June 2008. It is very good that obasanjo has been spared thus far to face the shameful SHAME of seeing the so-called political empire that he has built collapsing before his own eyes. And when his time comes he will have to carry the shame with him to the hereafter and give accounts to his “thugfather”.

Let us hope that now is the time for obasanjo to retire and review all the damage he has done his people and seek to reconcile himself with his God before it is too late. Whatever, it is quite a shame for someone with so much potential and goodwill to end up like this. Obasanjo, shame on you!
